anyone in the air force?

I'm going to be swearing into the Air Force in about a month, or so (when my recruiter gets back into town). I'm curious if anyone on here is in the air force because I'm wanting to know more about the ability to perform stops. I can write music, so all I'd really have to do is just gather the musicians to play the music where ever I'm stationed at...but, would I have to sell my gear? or would they allow me to bring it with me? I just have a couple basses I could never part with, and a pedalboard that works for what I do. the amps can be sold because I know what I would replace them with. I am hoping to go 1N0X1, however.

You're not going to be taking your gear anywhere with you until you're done with BMT and Tech School. It looks like you'll be BMT/Tech school for about 6 months before you get to your permanent duty station. Once you get to your permanent duty station you'll probably be in on-base dorms sharing a bathroom with the person next door. I doubt the people in your dorm will want you playing a huge amp but I knew guys who had some of their gear (guitar/bass, small amp, headphones).

I know I won't be able to bring anything to BMT. No personal posessions, from what I understand...or very nearly none. I'm talking after I get to perm base.

Once you get to your base you'll be able to have what you want. And it you can move it with you to another base. You probably won't be able to to take it with on a deployment though.

What job are you going into?

The movers that move your stuff are contracted out to civillian movers. So, you can actually have a house load of furniture and and they'll move everything. If your single, you'll be in a dormitory with a single roommate until you get your third stripe (Senior Airmen).

I haven't sworn in just yet. waiting on my recruiter to get back from training in Florida to start the paperwork and go to MEPS. I would like to get 1N0X1 (operations intelligence), however. I'll be going in A1C, so that should reduce time to E4.
