Next weekend, my company is having it's annual "business" meeting in Clearwater, Florida at the Sandpearl resort. It is basically a long weekend for employees and spouses to eat, drink, and be merry with a wonderfully short business meeting thrown in. The company schedules dinners and other functions but we are left on our own for a good part of each day.
Can anyone recommend restaurants/activities in the area? At one point, there was talk about chartering a fishing boat. Has the fishing in the area been impacted by the oil? Thanks for any help.

There is a Busch Gardens in the area.....here are some other things http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...r_Florida.html |

I would enjoy that, but the Salvador Dali Museum and also the whole downtown St. Petersburg area is very nice. But honestly, if you are there just for a long weekend, enjoy the Sand Pearl.

Stunning! My friend got married on the beach there last year, I was very impressed. |

To answer about the oil effecting the water down here, no it hasnt at all, ive been in the water all weekend and went fishing last week and everything was fine. Really great golf courses too, especially in the St.pete beach area. Where were you going to rent the boat from?

In regards to the boat, one of the guys in our IT department at the home office in Denton, TX has a fishing show on the Outdoor Life Network. He was going to take care of the arrangements for the fishing trip. I hope it happens. I've only been deep-sea fishing once and it was a blast. In addition, I have already planned a salmon/halibut fishing trip to Alaska in September. It is going to be a good summer...
