When barrels of oil go up on the Merchantile Exchange gas stations raise prices in anticipation the VERY next day 5 or so cents per gallon but when barrels of oil drop like yesterday gas prices still go up?

I find it a convenient way for these businesses to milk money out of people and blame it on oil futures.

The barrel price went down (by dollars not pennies) after the offshore drilling ban was lifted yesterday. That's a start

What I was saying though, if it went other way which it has been, the stations have been raising prices on a whim without justification of even receiving a shipment of gasoline at the higher price. But they aren't playing nicely the other way now.

Meanwhile, Google around and see if you can find out how much oil the US is still EXPORTING.

I'd do it but

Only the executave ban was lifted. Drilling can still not happen except in the western Gulf of Mexico until congress lifts it's ban.

I understand that but the lifting of th executive ban definately had an impact on the price.

I know several guys that are millitary contractors. They fly in and out of Dubai and vacation there all the time. The pictures are incredible.

Not saying that it did not, but there are several new articles that are claiming other reasons for the price drop yesterday.

I saw several stations with lowered prices today. Only a few cents, but still, they were lower.
