I seem to be getting junk emails like this on a daily basis. They're all worded differently, but they're all a variation on the same theme. Today's email looked like this:
"Good day,
My name is Curtis Clan; I am a Security Manager, with International
Finance Corporation.
I am writing to discuss an opportunity that we can take advantage of; it
involves a client who died four years ago and the circumstances
surrounding the investments made by this client at "IFC Group", the
Private Banking arm of World Bank.
Your name: and email contact matches the client profile making you a
potential beneficiary; contact me via my private email: curtisclan@rediffmail.com
I intend to discuss how we can exploit the opportunity. I guarantee that
this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you
from any breach of the law. The accrued benefit will be shared 50% for me
and 50% for you.
Regards,
Curtis Clan. curtisclan@rediffmail.com"
So I answered him back:
"My dear Mr. Clan,
Thank you so much for contacting me with this wonderful opportunity. It's not every day that such an opportunity comes one's way. However, there is one small point that I would like to discuss with you. In your email you propose to share the accrued benefits 50-50. I'm afraid this arrangement does not work for me. My counterproposal is that I get 95% and you get the remaining 5%, since i am taking the bigger risk. Please get back to me as soon as possible regarding this change in the share of the benefits. If not I'll have to conclude that you're just another Nigerian Scammer out to scam me or anyone else.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter
Sincerely,
Mr. Dick Duff."
So, anyone else get this garbage? From time to time I like to answer back and have a bit of fun with them. Honestly, I just can't believe anyone would be dumb enough to fall for this crap!
BTW I use Hotmail as my primary email, but I have other email accounts, and I've seen the same stuff elsewhere.

My real e-mail address gets basically no spam. Maybe one e-mail a week or so. |

After all, if I'm going to get a few million, I can spring for a few thousand on an airline ticket and hotel room, right? I also mentioned that my brother the FBI agent and his friend the INTERPOL agent was anxious to meet them too. Dumbasses sent me the next letter advising me where to send money to cover the "costs" of the transaction. I wish it were possible (or that I were capable) of responding with a virus that would electrify their keyboard. ZAP!!

Once you reply, you're put on a list of people that will respond to this kind of e-mail, regardless of whether or not it's a positive response. I have never replied to any of these, and I cannot remember the last time I got one. Don't want any more of these?
Don't reply,delete.

But yeah, I guess it is still spam if you didn't ask for it to be sent to you.
