I just break out in a cold sweat whenever I see him in Bass Player magazine. Nothing I do will ever be good enough for Mr. Jackson. His eyes follow me around the room, watching... judging.

| | curiously looking back at what once was beautiful | | Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Oregon | | I'm a fan. I remember him on this old CTI disco track from the '70s. It was a tricky piece, he was probably sightreading his part and he sounded better than I'm going to sound on the best day of my life.
One of the nice things about being a bass player is that you are unlikely to get stuck in a room with another one that is much better than you - they're always off on another gig!

In person, he's about a head shorter than those of average height and is pretty soft-spoken and low key. AJ doesn't seem to give off a passive-agressive or competitive vibe, so any intimidation I used to have is now replaced exclusively by a deep, healthy respect.

About the only "bad" thing I've ever heard is Cliff Almond complaining about how loud he gets at the 55 Bar.

Like I can do anything to hurt his reputation.
Great artist, but he's not exactly all there.
Bring the rain, tough guy.
Me, play in front of Anthony Jackson?
Well, maybe if he needed a good laugh or something.
