Anyone else have Ooma VOIP? Free phone service?
There was a thread in 2009 about Ooma and I think there were only two responses. I though more of us might be aware of it since then.
It is a free phone service through your internet. You buy the hardware for about $100 and connect you standard home phone to it. After that you just pay taxes. I don't know how much that is yet.
I will be dumping AT&T for both voice and internet at the end of this month.
Anyone else have Ooma? Do you like it?
Looks like things haven't changed much since 2009. :p
$100 is fair for the device, but the Ooma website says $149? The WiFi feature is slick. You can take your phone anywhere. We use Vonage, which offers that too. If you plan on transferring your current phone number to Ooma, they charge a fee for that.
I wonder if they make a softphone for it. Time to do some research.
They have a some other hardware for Ooma as well.
A friend bough her equpment at Costco, don't know how much she paid. I imagine places like Best Buy might have it as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by a softphone. I know you can get Ooma equiment with blue tooth.
Woot has a sale on Ooma equipment once a month or so it seems.
I use Voicepulse but a friend of mine has Ooma and is very satisfied.
You are in the US, why not use Google Voice? I would if I was in the US.
still using my Ooma from way back then, and still digging it
I'm set-up with multiple numbers, and have the hardware so that each phone is a separate call
also nice that I have voicemail sent to me as an email attachment - makes checking vm easy when I'm in the shop running the CNC cutting bodies/necks
last time I was in Costco they still had them available
