Anyone else NOT interested in the "BCS Championship?"

Sign in to disble this ad
I confess, as a west coast PAC-10 guy there is ONE bowl that really interests me: The Rose Bowl. It's the original, the "real" one. The others would like to be the Rose Bowl, but of course they can't be, and they never will be.

Of course, if my alma mater plays in the Rose Bowl, that's the ultimate. If it plays in another bowl, then I enjoy that one...and you can bet I'll be there.

But all the BCS stuff? Don't care. Florida? Alabama? Not my alma maters...don't care. Texas? I got my PhD at Texas A&M, so they can lose any time they want to....but I really don't care.

So I'm up for Ohio State and Oregon in DA GRANDDADY OF DEM ALL! I'll watch TCU and Boise State because at least they are interesting and from the western US, and I might tune in to see the boys playing their games in that thing on Jan 7, but not if I have something important to do like change the oil in the car.

I'm not as provincial, I guess--I almost always watch the BCS Championship game with great interest. Of course, as an SEC guy, there often seems to be a team from the conference playing in and winning the BCS Championship game. Five of 11 so far, and Bama's in #12.

ETA: And beyond that, Texas-USC was one heck of a game and I watched every minute of it.

I'm not sure what makes the Rose Bowl more "real" other than it came first. *shrug* The Orange and the Sugar have been around for 75 years now.

Neither name nor history makes a bowl interesting to me. The only thing that matters as far as I'm concerned is the matchup and the Rose Bowl matchup is, to me, the most ho-hum of all the BCS bowls. Totally not interested in that one.

I'm an Aggie but I will be rooting for the Horns. Gotta support the teams from my state...

I'm the same way Dig. I'd pull for those darned Aggies against any team besides the Horns. Maybe it is a Texas thing.

Me and my brother against my cousin, me and my cousin against a stranger.

I'm crushed that Florida was beaten [and the exploitation of Tebow's tears by all the haters], but love college ball and will enjoy the championship game as well as quite a few others.

In no particular order:

Holiday Bowl
Dec. 30, San Diego 8 p.m., ESPN
Nebraska vs. Arizona

I want to see the Bucs new DT again [they'll pick Suh if they're smart].

Poinsettia Bowl
Dec. 23, San Diego, 8 p.m., ESPN
Utah vs. California

Emerald Bowl
Dec. 26, San Francisco, 8:30 p.m., ESPN
Boston College vs. USC

Alamo Bowl
Jan. 2, San Antonio, Texas, 8 p.m., ESPN
Michigan State vs. Texas Tech

Cotton Bowl
Jan. 2, Arlington, Texas, 2 p.m. FOX
Oklahoma State vs. Ole Miss

Texas Bowl
Dec. 31, Houston, ESPN
Missouri vs. Navy

Sun Bowl
Dec. 31, El Paso Texas, noon, CBS
Stanford vs. Oklahoma

[Only if Stanford QB Luck plays.]

Music City Bowl
Dec. 27, Nashville, Tenn., 8 p.m., ESPN
Clemson vs. Kentucky

Capital One Bowl
Jan. 1, Orlando, Fla., 1 p.m., ABC
Penn State vs. LSU

Sugar Bowl
Jan. 1, New Orleans, 8:30 p.m. FOX
Florida vs. Cincinnati

Champs Sports Bowl
Dec. 29, Orlando, Fla., 8 p.m., ESPN
Miami vs. Wisconsin

Rose Bowl presented by Citi
Jan. 1, Pasadena, Calif., 5 p.m., ABC
Ohio State vs. Oregon

Orange Bowl
Jan. 5, Miami Gardens, Fla., 8 pm FOX
Georgia Tech vs. Iowa

Love that "flexbone", especially when it's run by elite athletes [no offense to Navy].

Fiesta Bowl
Jan. 4, Phoenix, 8 p.m., FOX
Boise State vs. TCU

National Championship
Jan. 7, Pasadena, Calif., 8 p.m., FOX
Alabama vs. Texas

Texas toast.

^Even though I care for neither Missouri nor Navy, I might make it out to the Texas Bowl. Usually you can get really good seats for pretty cheap. (Plus, it helps the stadium is only a ~20 minute drive from my house)

I'm a west coast Pac-10 guy as well, but I enjoy all good college football games. I think the Fiesta and BCS Championship will both be fantastic games.

bassrique, have you not seen Toby Gerhart run the ball? To me, as good a QB as Andrew Luck is, Gerhart's the sole reason Stanford is even in a bowl game.

Actually this is the first year in a long time I actually do care about the BCS championship. The wife has roots in Alabama.

Still think the whole voting/bowl system is bogus, though. Needs to be a playoff, just like the big leagues.

If that's the case, I'll watch that game if Luck doesn't play.

I live, literally, right next to the Atlantic Ocean and have done so prety much my whole life. The Pac-10 is about the least interesting thing to me in any aspect of the sport of football.

I went to VMI, but grew up a VT fan, and a VT fan I remain (that and VMI hasnt had a winning season in something like 60 years).

The big teams like Florida, Alabama and Texas actaully bore me. I am excited for TCU vs Boise State.

Why so? Is it a simple matter of geography? Pac-10 plays great football, 6-0 in bowl games last year. If it's regional bias, you're missing out.

To answer the question, I am interested in the BCS championship. However, I would be more interested in college football playoffs. March Madness is always a load of fun, especially in Vegas.

Beyond that, I'm kinda divided by the Mizzou vs Navy game at the Texas bowl. Seeing as I'm leaving for the Navy in June, I'm not sure who to root for exactly.
