Is that some sort of Luther Vandross reference?

Still clean four weeks later...you know when the Jones hits the most? Not when in the presence of someone who's smoking but when watching a movie and someone lights up. Weird!

I haven't had a smoke in years, but that is the only time I want one. Except when everyone is smoking -- like in Mad Men. That makes me feel like I have a sore throat.

K, that's two now that trigger smoking cravings at movies. Is there truth to subliminal advertising? Seriously though, that is a kind of interesting trigger.

Fear was the best motivator I could find.

I used to smoke quite a bit, and for many (about 20) years. I tried the patch, which worked great while it was on. Then I would go off of it, and eventually think I could just "have a few" and then get addicted all over again. Then I tried nicotine gum, and got even more addicted to that! Once I stopped, I would start smoking again. This went on for about 5 years. Off and on, off and on. I hated it because I really wanted to be a non smoker.

One day I woke up and seemed to always be clearing my throat. As the days went on, the throat clearing continued, and even got worse. For the first time in my life I thought, this is it, smoking has given me throat cancer. It scared the hell out of me, and I quit smoking then and there, cold turkey. that was 5 years ago, and I've never had a cigarette, or even a craving for one. After all the tricks, the excercise, candies, patches, gum that never stuck, it was outright fear of cancer that did it.

The throat clearing? It was post nasal drip, nothing more. It didn't matter though, because I was completely over cigarettes by the time I actually found out what was causing it.

I hope you find something that works for you! Just never quit quitting.

Right? You'd think being in the physical presence of someone smoking, where you could see AND smell them, would be the trigger. It's not.

It's because when you're watching a movie, you're in the movie and lose yourself. When you're at a bar having a beer with some pals, you're in yourself. So to speak.

I just crossed 8 weeks smoke free. Chantix did the trick for me. I'm now in the first week without it.

4 weeks
Do not think about it so much.
Keep reminding myself of how there is ABSOLUTELY NO benifit to smoking.
But I do slip back often at this point.
Just have to keep the right attitude and frame of mind.
Celebrate your success........"Isn't it great that I am a non smoker!!!"

Days may be stressful, but at least I am not adding to it by smoking.

The other day I was watching "New York, I Love You" and I thought, I'd like to live in New York some day, but I can't, because I quit smoking. It seemed for a minute that everyone in that movie was smoking (not everyone was). It didnt cause me to crave a smoke, though.

School just started back up last week so I'm stressed and I'm spending a lot more time in my car. I'm trying to smoke less when I'm at home but even that hasn't been going so well.

Also started classes again, and everyone outside the music building smokes. All day. And driving is tough. I get bored and anxious. I'm not doing as well as I thought, because I stopped for over six months in 2012, and even when I started again it was very minimal. Gotta keep working at it.

I had a dream about cheerleaders. Then I woke up before all the fun stuff happened... I was angry at myself.

I was very frustrated the other night while at a party, and it made me want a cigarette.

I did not indulge and was proud of myself.
