IF so, opinions on that asinine song by Keith Urban about that stupid gopher. For that matter, did anyone really find that digger all that endearing. Loved the camera angles, but the animated gopher bit has now officially gone to far IMO. Any thoughts or am I the only backwards hillbilly unsophisticated and ignorant enough to watch cars go in cirlces for three hours every week?

Now's a good time, that horrific performance in the pre race is by Ol keith Urban is finally over and my ears have pretty much stopped bleeding. This should be a hell of a race.

Ignorant SOB here. That digger crap has to go. I want my racing, not some cartoon business about a gopher and his family or whatever was going on. I went and made a bloody mary. I'm ready for some racing though for sure. It's been a long winter and it looks warm in Daytona. It gives me hope summer will get here sometime.

Watching the race, not all the rest of the crap that goes with it.

But why is Waltrip wearing a purple tie with a pink shirt?

What was up with having 4 freaking guitarists on stage for simple pop songs...they even tried to disguise one of them as a banjo.

As soon as that gopher crap came on, I changed channels.

I used to believe that the Daytona 500 was the greatest thing on the planet, Over the past decade it has changed into so much hoopla and marketing that I cant even sit through a whole race anymore.
Not to mention that they don't even race until the last 15 laps. The rest of the time is spent driving around getting the sponsors logos as much TV time as possible.
When the race starts, I'll have it on with the volume turned down. If I have to hear "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity" or "let me tell you about Push" one more time, I'm pretty sure I'll implode.
(and I'm an ex race car driver)

LOL! Thank the Good Lord there are like minded race fans out in TB land. Yeah, did you see that asexual thing playing the mandolin? Good gravy! And sorry, I am a country traditionalist, a T-bird really isn't the right tool for the job in a country gig. Mostly i ignore the pre race crap, but the bit with them all bashing on DW and his little dance was hilarious! He has absolutely no fashion sense, but I thnk the pink is breast cancer awareness.

I just noticed a driver with a full face helmet with a clear face shield. Isn't that a bit of over kill in a car?

It was overkill for He Who Bore the Three. But thats the common thing. With air hoses and drinking tubes attached to bladders of gatorade and all sorts of other craziness. If the race is going to be in all bright sun they often have a tinted vizor.

Well, if your about to win the Daytona 500.......

I'm sure it has happened, but generally they don't comment on it. I do know that they generally don't have to take a leak all that often becasue they sweat so much. IF it were me I would jsut make sure I spent a good hour on the can before I started driving.

Next year once I am 21 I will go out to Daytona and partake. Until then, NASCAR isn't my thing.

I'm watching the race. Lance Armstrong looks like he's in great shape, but i don't think he'll go for the win this early in the season.

... or were you talking about some kind of car race?

Yeah, I would say that an animated gopher must have more to do with the sport than any driver, crew, car, sponsor, maunafcturer, fan, track, owner etc. That friggin thing is irritating, and it only got worse ths year. I was amused last year for about an hour. Giving him a custom theme song rom that quasi-country numbnut KEith Urban put the icing on the turd cake for me.
