I'm going to see them tomorrow at the Myth in Maplewood, MN and I was wondering if anyone saw them and what they thought of their show.

A couple of friends of mine saw them a couple of years ago.

Their comments were less than favorable.

[note: I actually enjoy their records, so don't count me in as a "hat3r"]

Wow...I enjoy their records too but after seeing that I hope they're a little more in sync tomorrow night.

I have seen them a few times. Last year, they had sounded a lot better because I think they stopped drinking before/during their set. Before that, they were all fairly drunk and did not sound so hot.

I saw them this past summer on Mayhem Fest. Their mix sucked. The only things that cut through were the leads, drums, and vocals. They might as well not have had a keyboardist. They had pretty killer stage presence, but overall, Disturbed came out and blew them off the stage (plus Disturbed had a very good mix). The singer introduced one of the tunes as "The song that made Guitar Hero III famous," or something like that. I thought that was a pretty douchey and arrogant comment.

I think they're a very talented band from a technical standpoint, but I just see very little creativity in their songwriting and arranging. Every song seems follow the same format with recycled harmonized guitar leads that they mined from their Iron Maiden albums growing up.

Ya man, saw them at Mayhem aswell. And he said "This is the song that was made famous by Guitar Hero" Not the other way around. They were nuts.

I thought about going to Mayhem to see them and Slipknot but after having 2 g/f's who were obsessed with Disturbed the LAST thing I wanted to do was watch them live. The Myth has a pretty good sound system for a nighclub so hopefully everything is heard in the mix. I saw Bleeding Through and HIM there last year and both bands sounded phenomenal, except you could barely hear Marta's keyboards when Bleeding Through played.

They really do suck live: out of sync, out of key, couldn't be worse....

I was there for powerglove and turisas though

Sheer technicality for the technicality of it does nothing for me. Technicality combined with great song writing is brilliant. They lack the ladder.

I've been saying this for years...they're awful and overrated. If you can't replicate your stuff live then you're not really that good.

Saw them open for Chimera and Killswitch Engage, my friends and I took turns laughing and cringing. I think the humour was intentional, the cringing not so much.

Mostly, I found Sam Totman's (2nd guitarist) stage antics INCREDIBLY annoying.

For the most part the show was Herman Li standing on a pedestal with wind-blown hair demonstrating the use of a Digitech Whammy pedal .

A few of my friends went to see them a while ago. They said it was an awful show full of sloppy playing. It figures, I guess!

Yes.

It was basically their lead singer calling everyone mother---ers a lot.

And their keyboardist acting like a complete tool.

But the sound was much better than I expected.

Every single one of their songs sounds the same though

dragonforce involves a whole lot of studio magic as far as i know.

if dragonforce floats your boat, that's good. not my cup of tea, however.

Wow, that's so hillariously backwards. Before guitar hero, the only people I knew who bought their album bought it because it was so lame that it was funny to listen to. Like, "hey check it out, can you believe this band actually exists," followed by 3 minutes of listening and looking at CD art and then epic LOLing.

That's pretty much any band in the genre now though so I'm used to it. I'll post a review when I get back. Hopefully the two opening bands don't suck too bad.

I saw them in May 2005 in their first US show (or was it tour?) with my then girlfriend.

The show sucked terribly and it was a waste of the zero dollars we paid to get in. However we got free drinks all night, and not many people use the VIP bathroom.
