Of course, if you object in anyway, you fit their profiling for a suspected terrorist and get a triple dose of scrutinizing. You're better off to set aside your dignity for two minutes than argue.

-Mike | and, i believe, there is a possible fine as well.
my kids are flying tomorrow with their mom. i hope it goes ok for them. honestly, it seems like this is the future of flying, heavy security and very few amenities. the fact that you can get across the country in a few hours still amazes me. i don't think i would stress too much over being patted down (and up).
if you say you gay, can you get a member of the opposite sex to do the pat?

In 2003 I was flying from Zurich to London and forgot to remove my keys, tripping the metal detector. Of course they patted me down but as the security person was doing it a guy in camo had a gun pointed to my head. So it could be worse. |

The sad thing is that this frisking doesn't make us one bit more secure. Darn near every attempt by a reporter or security investigator to get past airport security is successful. All they're doing is making a show to keep us pacified.
I heard interviews on NPR this AM, and the experienced travelers all agreed they didn't feel a bit more secure because of this new process.

I have absolutely nothing to hide and when I fly I have no intentions on hijacking or destroying the plane. I will not let them pat me down though, nor will I let them herd me through the full body scan. I am supposed to be protected against these sort of behaviors by the constitution and will not allow them to breach it under the guise of security. Especially when they pick and choose who they want to search at random. Now, if every single person in the line had to go through the same exact process, then I MIGHT not have as big a problem with it.

No one can force you to be searched or to go through the body scan without probable cause. Of course, when you buy a plane ticket and attempt to board a plane you knowingly forfeit that right, but that's your choice. Ain't freedom grand?

I'm just thrilled with the notion that my preteen daughter, who is severely developmentally disabled, will get felt up by an agent since she can't stand still in the scanner. I'm not thrilled about getting felt up either, but I'm going to be watching whomever searches my daughter like hungry lion.
Not to mention that we have to travel with her service dog. They always give us the third degree. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
