Anyone going to Vintage Motorcycle Days?

Sign in to disble this ad
Like it says, anyone going to Mid-Ohio for this year's VMD? Triumph is the marque of the year, which is especially exciting to me since that's what I ride.

If anyone is interested but doesn't know about it, it's the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio July 25-27.

Ticket info can be found at www.midohio.com

It's definitely a sweet event, and they have a ridiculously huge swap meet where parts for all kinds of bikes can be found. Need a rare piece for an old bike? You'll probably find it there. American, European, Japanese, you name it. Dirt bikes, street bikes, track bikes, trail bikes. Side cars. You will see a bit of everything.

They have races on the track all weekend, and on Saturday they have an auction which is always exciting to watch.

We go every year and camp. And for the swap meet, we have a gold 1970 Honda Trail 70 with a hitch and a wagon that we pull around and load parts on. So if you see that thing, you'll know that's us. haha

Just curious to see who else might be going from the TB community. In addition, do any of you ever post at britbike.com? It's a sweet site kind of like TB, but for antique British motorcycles instead of basses. It's awesome. (I don't actually know if I'm allowed to plug another forum, so if that's a no-no, please edit my text and I apologize)

Maybe I'll run into some of you there, or we could even arrange to meet up for a few and do the usual handshake and what have you. We could exchange cell phone numbers or something and then find a place to meet while we're there.

I'll definitely be taking a bunch of pictures... always do.

My main bike is a 1970 TR6R Tiger 650, but we also have a 1970 T150 Trident 750, 67 T120TT track bike (authentic), 1971 T120 Bonneville 650, 67 TR6R Chopper, 63 6T Thunderbird 650, 62 TR6SS Pre-Unit, 55 6T Pre-Unit, 71 T120 Bobber, 70 T100 Daytona 500, 73 T100 Trophy 500, a 79 T140 Bonneville Special 750, and probably enough engines, frames, and other bits to make a handful of other Triumphs whenever we get the time. We also have a 66 BSA B44 Victor 441, a 71 BSA A65, and a couple other BSAs to put together.

We also have a really sweet 75 T160 Trident 750 electric start in the shop right now that we've recently been working on for a family friend. And a guy from Florida always brings us bikes to fix. The one we have of his right now is a 78 TR7RV Tiger 750. I'd never seen one before. Very cool.

Sorry for the rambling. I'll post some pics in this thread when I get back!

Jake

I went years ago with a buddy who rode his 1949 Vincent Rapide, while I rode his Moto Guzzi SP1000 as the pack mule. Definitely a good time. I used to own a T160 and a Ducati 250 Monza. I kind of realized that I don't have the mechanical interest to continue to fool with them and I'm not rich enough to pay for someone else to do it for me. Plus my friend with the Vincent is a master craftsman and looking at his work made me realize that I just didn't have it. He has a sweet stable that starts with 1925 Norton 16H and would let me take a ride on most of them if I asked.
