I got an iTunes gift card and I'm tempted to blow most of it on the $20 Beatmaker app. I've seen the vids but I'm wondering if anyone here has it and what do you think about it? I've never done that sort of composing but it looks fun.

I do have tap tap revenge and tap tempo (I think that's the name of it), but not the same thing. Did you say Korea?
So many sexies. So little time. Mmmmmmm korean chicks.
Me thinks this was just a veiled thread created to brag about the fact that you're going to Korean where they make all the sexies. |

Definitely not the same thing since TTR is a game and Beatmaker is a full fledged near professional level sequencer.
I'm going to SK to bring home my son.

bc | Yeah. I looked at it and was skeptical. Although now that I'm neck deep into creating beats I can see the use for having a portable beatbuilder. I would say that my biggest concern would be exportability (not something the iphone does all that well IMO). Can it export into something I can use in either garageband or even better Ableton Live.
"bring home my son".... pfft. Likely excuse.
Seriously. What do you mean bring home your son? Are you adopting a child?
It's funny how much I scrutinize spending 20 bucks on this thing, when I easily drop twenty bucks after a few drinks in a bar. |

I check out the upcoming update at intua.net. Some nice features are about to be added such as sampling on the fly. I haven't exported yet but I believe it exports in .wav format. I could be wrong. I only got it last night.
Yes, I'm adopting a child. More details will come once he's home and in our hands.

I've got a little Korean cousin my aunt and uncle adopted probably 5 or 6 years ago. I generally can't stand children, but of all the little kids in my family she's my favorite by far.

I'm putting together a tune comprised entirely of babbling, squeals and bystander comments from a video of our son that we received. It's going great so far. I will surprise my wife when I finish.

Go easy - I've never done any sequencing/sampling before. I used Audacity to grab the samples and then the free Beatpack software to turn it into a 16 button sample pad. Then I loaded that onto Beatmaker on my iPhone and sequenced it there. In restrospect I hear things I should have done differently but it came out OK and my wife enjoyed it.
BTW, we found out on Thursday that we have travel clearance - we are leaving to go get our son on Tuesday. We will meet him for the first time on Thanksgiving Day.

bc | Man, that was annoying. Cool that you did it on your iPhone. I kind of want to get it for my touch now.

lowsound | It's not nearly as annoying when you've seen the video. Or maybe it is and it's just not annoying when it's your own kid. The project that I'm currently working on is much more musical.
