Anyone have a no contract iPhone?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have never posted here but I had this question today since I am thinking about buying one iPhone.
Right now I have a pretty crappy phone and I always wanted one of those smartphones with 3g access without needing wifi but I don't like having a contract.

Anyone know if you can still access 3g network without wifi if you have a no contract iPhone using prepay cards? I feel that if I am gna pay for an iPhone and not be able to use the 3g network then id rather get an iPod touch.

I have an Android 2.2 on the Virgin Mobile plan. 150 for the phone (an LG optimus), and 25 bucks a month for 300 talk min, and unlimited text and data on 3G network. No plan. They also offer a Samsung for 130 running android 2.1, same plan.

With the release of the iPhone 4s on Sprint, I wonder if an unlocked version can run on the Virgin platform / sim since it's the same network....

I take this works with any phone that goes for the verizon prepay plan? Ill be waiting till next week to see the unlocked iPhone prices... they are always a bit high but I rather pay that amount than sign up for a two year contract with AT&T or verizon.

Virgin Mobile. Not Verizon. But they currently offer 4-5 different phones, including the Motorola Triumph now, which is nice.

I have a Blackberry (unlimited everything) with Metro PCS for $60. I hear I can get the same deal for $50 now.

The problem with no-contract iPhones is where do you get 3G
speeds without going with the regular carriers?

For example, iPhones work with T-Mobile but not at 3G speeds.
Instead you get EDGE (2.5G) speed which is really slow.

T-Mobile has some cheap plans now (e.g. $50 unlimited or
$30 for unlimited web/text+100talk Min. [through Wal-Mart]).
I was hoping the new iPhone might work with one of these
plans but that doesn't seem to be the case.
