Anyone here play WoW?

So, I play WoW. No, I'm not addicted to it or anything. I might put 4 hours into it in a week right now. Some weeks more, most weeks less. Pretty casual playing.
My main is a Draenei Mage, OK geared (lvl 80). I'm on the Borean Tundra as Selta - drop me a line if you're on there too.
I have a few other toons on that realm and others... mostly just bank alts and toons to have fun with and explore other quest lines.

I am not a fan of the WoW forums, so I thought I'd start WoW discussion here. Hopefully there's some others that also play it.

I was a shadow priest from 2005 to 2009. I recently found out that my account had been hacked after I quit, so I'm trying right now to get it fixed up. I don't really have much intention of playing the game anymore, but I still don't like people screwing with mah stuff.

That sucks. Blizzard now offers the user of an "Authenticator", which is much like an RSA token. It generates a 6 digit number that you need to enter in order to log in. It's a little thing I keep on my keychain, and you press a button to make it generate the number.

I've only played for a few months - my main is a 70 Troll Hunter (just got epic flying a few days ago, woot), though I'm working on a bunch of alts as well, mostly a Forsaken Priest. It's a good way to unwind when you get home at 11pm on a tuesday and hate TV. I'm making a point of getting to experience some WotLK endgame before Cataclysm hits; I've been unable to see any of the pre-BC or BC raids because nobody does them anymore, so I hope I can get some time in on the Wrath stuff. Though flying mounts in Azeroth should be fun.

I used to play back in college had a 60 druid in half tier 2 raid gear before the expansion, killed Nef ect.

Those days are behind me though, it started really effecting my life, so now I stick to console games/single player RPGs that are easier to walk away from.

I play off and on, I used to play pretty heavily at 60, but I haven't spent nearly as much time playing after the last two expansions.

MW2 has cut down this time even more, but I guess that's best kept for another thread

Parents don't let your kids near WOW. It's more addicting than crack.

LOL My teenage boy plays, but he is a straight A student in the 7th grade so I am OK with it. He knoes if his grades slip WOW will be on the chopping block; so for me it's a tool.

Both my wife and I play. We love it. It is much better than staring at a tv like so many others do. Blizzard impresses me all the time. For the most part the game runs flawlessly. And everytime I think I'm getting bored with it, they release a new patch and there is more to do. LOL!!!

^^^ Exactly. I work full time, go to school full time, play WoW every night for a couple hours and am pulling straight A's. Like with anything else, some people can't practice self-control. And anytime someone mentions my gaming, I ask them how often they watch TV/surf the internet/get plastered in bars... Everyone has their *let my brain shut down* time.

Uhm? how weird is it that the banner on top of this thread was "forsaken farmers $5.63 for 1000 gold". Chinese goldfarmers are advertising on Talkbass? ***???

I love WoW. It's fun and I have made some good acquaintances there.
I can see how it could be addicting for people, and there's sometimes when I have nothing better to do or want to disappear for a long time that I'll let myself get sucked into it for hours. It's really a fun game, especially since there's absolutly so much to do. And Blizzard is always adding new content, so that keeps it interesting.
I also haven't cleared all of the classic content yet. I hope to before Cataclysm comes out, but man is that going to be a task!

I played off and on, from the beta until a few months ago, and WOW was far from my first MMO. It's always the same for me: I enjoy the leveling process (I've level-capped almost every class at some point), but hate the end-game. Pvp isn't the answer for me, either; I'd rather play a well-tuned FPS for that. I won't say I'll never play WOW (or any MMO, for that matter) again, but it's highly unlikely.

My wife and I played from '04 'til a few months ago. We used to love it; co-ran a guild for years, played for a few hours every day, etc., but now, with a new house (that needs some work), a (completely awesome) 9-month-old daughter, and my rekindled love for the bass, we've cancelled our accounts.

If Blizz lets me redo my nelf as a troll druid in Cataclysm, I might check it out again.

i have a 80 DK geared and a 78 dranei pally geared.

havent touched it in 6 months. the expansion just got way too corny when people started demanding youve done instances to do instances with them. cant complete them if no one will let you in and most of the guilds suck. that and im not pocket protector enough to get "all serious" about wow..people forget its just a game and they need to relax a bit.im not into cliques anyway especially when theyre online.

plus me and wifey would battle over the laptop and shes 20 levels behind me so she asks me 100000000 questions about crap ive already done and she sucks and ive never played her class so all it dose is frustrate me.

she wants to get back into it and i may just do it..if we get 2 computers. but honestly it eats up way too much of my already inactive life..im just better off playing my bass

Soooooo, honest question.
WoW is pretty much an updated 21st century version of Dungeons and Dragons?

Kind of. Sorta. Some parallels can be drawn.

Speaking of D&D I'm actually playing that now about 1 weekend a month.

Yeah it is and no it isn't...

All RPG games take from D&D in some regard. Wow is a lot simpler than D&D 3.5 and probably on par with 4.0 of course its a video game too so there are bigger parties, more stuff to do, a free market for goods, meticulously controlled balance between classes/levels ect.

Sounds pretty neat actually. If I had more free time on my hands I'd definitely look into WoW or even D&D again, I used to absolutely love that stuff.
