Talking to my Grandmother today and found out she has a Stradivarius willed to me. I know they are violins made by Stradivari, in the late 17th century(?), but that's about the extent of my knowledge. Would I be able to use it, or is it obsolete by now? Also any other history people want to share?

But last I heard all real Strads were accounted for, so it may be fake..

Can't back this up with evidences tho, it's just what I heard and I'm too lazy to research. |

Sadly she's bedridden and so is my grandpa so I'm not going to ask them to go to the attic and dig it out for pictures. I'll have it verified again when I head up there in the spring and most likely will donate it if it is indeed as rare as you guys are saying.

You could insure it and create a business around it. Not only would it be seen but perhaps used. Man so many ways you could set your family up with this thing. DON'T DONATE IT!!! |

FYI, if it really is a Strad, the wood contains more fungi and animal urine (including human) than you'd like to hold directly under and in contact with your face. |
