I watched a video from a few years back of me playing in a band and I, along with my chunky drummer friend, were saddened at our post marital weight gain. |

Yeah man i watch what i eat but most importantly, I goto the gym everyday, and WORK. | You'll get there then. It's just a lifestyle change. Eating healthy is the most substantial part. Working out and exercise is also extremely important.
For example this is what I had yesterday:
Kashi Go Lean Crunch and a Banana for breakfast. I follow the recommended serving size of 1 cup. Coffee with half and half, no sugar.
I had an apple at 10:00 am.
Lunch was a Caesar salad with steak tips on top. Water to drink.
I had another banana at 3:00PM
Dinner was grilled salmon, garlic and olive oil couscous and steamed garlic zucchini. I had a diet root beer to drink. I also cooked all the food.
I try not to drink too much diet soda. Almost never have regular soda. I also allow my self to eat what I want. I don't eat late at night. I try my best not to really snack on junk food. But I also allow myself to splurge if I want too. Just not too often. But what I did do was change my eating habit to reflect and overall healthy trend. I'm not saying I'm a crazy health food freak, because I'm not. Tonight I'm have a nice juicy burger. But instead of having 2 or have a burger and a dog, I just have the one serving. That's definately a major thing for me. Cutting down on serving size goes a long way. You probably know that. Anyways, being a food addict is not easy, and I still struggle with it everyday.

That's what I needed to see to help me get these 15 lbs. I've been struggling to get off.
Basically, I've got about $1000 worth of pants and dress shirts I don't fit into, and would love to get back into them in the near future.

It's crazy because I've had to spend so much money on buying new clothes over the past couple of years. Going from a 44"/46" down to a 34" wasit and everything in between.
It feels a lot better buying clothes because they're too big than it does because they're too small!!
I've definately slowed down on my weight loss as I've approached my target / goal weight. The last 15 are going to be the hardest.

The last 15 are going to be the hardest. | My problem is that I peaked at 180 in College due to copious amounts of beer and fried food. Couldn't cook for myself my senior year and the school wouldn't allow us to use our meal plan anywhere healthier than their cafe.
Needless to say, I'm shedding weight slowly simply by eating healthier and no serious change in lifestyle. Running would help out a lot though.

That's probably what I'm going to have to do, that or biking. Actually Hiking is real kick @ss cardio as well. My dad does a lot and I should get out with him.
But changing your diet to eating what you know is healthy is a major key to success. I say "what we know is healthy", because we all know what we should be eating, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grain breads, etc.
But man, it's so easy to eat bad. We've become such a "drive thru" society. Everything is processed, packaged, or fried. Or all three!!
I try my best to stay away from stuff like that, and most of the time I do. But I still love potato chips, I love popcorn at the movies, I love a nice juicy burger with bacon on it, I could go on...::drool::
I guess I just eat less of the bad stuff

I'm trying to lose a few pounds, maybe 20 or so. I'm about 200-210 (no accurate scales) and 17 years old so I want to get off the slippery slope before it's too late. However, losing pounds isn't as important for me because I'd actually rather replace my fat with muscle (which is heavier than fat) because I play rugby and need to be as heavy as possible, I just don't want to look it. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Sep 2000 Location: Des Moines, IA, USA | | | When I moved out of my parents house, I was at about 180. A year or so later, I was up to 235. My then-fiancee, now wife decided that she needed to drop some weight for our wedding, and sort of dragged me with her. I'm at about 177 now, and still creeping down.
For me, the biggest thing that helped was just getting in the habit of eating less, and eating healthier.
The other thing that helped (and I know that some people would scoff at this) is looking at how my eating habits reflected on God. I'm a Christian, and I heard a pastor that I respect a lot say something to the effect of "God gives us food so that we can eat it in a way that shows that food is not our treasure, but that He is." That idea really helps keep things grounded for me. |

| | | At age 17, I broke 300. Granted, I'm pushing 6.5 feet, but still, horrendous. I got back down to 220-230ish and it's been great. Biggest thing I could recommend is portion control, also, I would have to (counter-intuitively) suggest normal soda over diet. Diet soda has shown to actually pique hunger in some folks, which is disastrous for us big guys. I just sacrificed my daily sugar elsewhere in the day, so that the soda had minimal impact. My motivator sure as heck was not health though :/ But hey, libido is as good a reason as any, right? |
