Part of me wants one, but I'm not going to drop the money without playing with one first.
Have you played with one yet? Tell me about it.

Have you played with one yet? Tell me about it. | No but I'm going to order one. I use my laptop for net browsing and after 3 years, it's become a POS. From what I can see the iPad will do everything I need in a compact package. It will be easier to travel with also. I don't need a full keyboard for what I do on the road. The space savings will be a happy tradeoff for me. |

For me, it's just too damn small to do any serious web browsing. I basically use it for emergency only if I'm not near a computer. All I need is something to dump and view photos in when I travel, Email access and internet browsing with a larger screen than the iPhone. I would probably get the keyboard docking station to use in the hotel room. |

I'd quite like to see how one would stand up as a digital music stand, or maybe find a cheaper, more purpose built equivalent.

My kids can blaze away with both thumbs faster than I can type on my full size split keyboard. I can't see why I wouldn't be very happy with the iPad. A friend of mine is going to get our WiFi 64 Gig Pads as soon as they arrive at the dealer which should be, according to him, faster than pre-ordering Hopefully by the end of the month............hopefully And.........
As soon as my CAD software update allows me to run it on a Mac, I'M GETTING A DESKTOP MAC!!! I'm SOOO sick of my PC, I cant WAIT to throw it down the driveway |

Except when I need the GPS or the camera and such...
I don't mind the small screen, but large advertisements and such drive me nuts.
I do really hate the keyboard though!
After two years of using my iPhone, I still make mistakes constantly, but I'm used to hitting backspace as I type and redoing the mistakes. The mistakes don't make me type any slower unless I have to erase a bunch of text first to redo a mistake.
Trying to highlight text to copy and paste is always a PITA.
Honestly, I really don't see the appeal of this iPad?
From what I've seen so far, it's basically an iPhone with a big screen.
Why not buy a tablet screen laptop? |

I love Apple products
I have a 10 year old iBook that is still solid for web browsing (when was the last time you can say that about a Microsoft product?)
I have the newer Ipod nano with video camera
and my wife has a ipod touch
all are great devices but I cant see the iPad being more than a big Ipod touch
with the bonus of being a ebook reader and a bigger browsing interface plus touchscreen
okay so that cool and all but to me that really doesnt push it past the cheaper netbooks
The laptop is by all arguments a superior product due to the ability
to run Programs not apps and play games,DVDs,etc,. and multitask but they
are really not getting that much smaller. In fact a few are getting bigger
The compromise is the netbook/IPad
but currently I cant see myself shelling out that much dough for an IPad
when for a few measly dollars more I can get a laptop
guess if you got money to burn...then again if I DID actually have money to burn
I would buy a Lakland or something

I do not see the appeal. The iPad is still going to be as big as a netbook. What is this obsession with apps? Everyone I know who has a Apple Iphone/Touch tells me the only reason to get one was for the apps. Why get a phone for the accessories? Or a portable music player for its games? Is there something I am not seeing? Maybe I'll go to BestBuy and see if they have one on display.
This comes to mind whenever I see one.

I HATE trying to use my laptop when I fly. iPad, no keyboard, no CD drive, no hinged screen to open. Exactly what I want! |
