The only television I have watched since last June has been at other people's houses. I really don't miss it at all.

I only watch TV during dinner time for the Simpsons, and for Mythbusters, while I'm doing guitar setups.

I gave up on TV a long time ago. It seems there are nothing but those same styled reality shows on every channel. I'll watch the news or CSI,and maybe Law and Order. That's pretty much it.

We dumped cable a couple of years ago & never looked back. We don't even have local channels or basic cable. Mind you, we DVD-sit the kids way more than we should, but peace is priceless. I'll watch about 5 minutes worth at my folks every now & then; it helps remind me how much I don't miss it.

I think that TV is a big part of our culture and there are many programmes that can be considered a unique art form, not to mention documentaries that help us understand the world/universe.

So - not to watch any TV is shutting yourself off from a huge amount of knowledge and some great art!

Not something to be "proud of", in my opinion!

It's like saying - I am totally free of Art Galleries, Museums, Theatres, Concert Halls etc..... yeah whoo for me!

I don't have a TV in my room at uni. I do watch lots of DVDs though - many films, and also TV series on DVD. Between September and Christmas I watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer series 1-7, last week I finished Prison Break series 1, and I currently watching series 2, as well as 24 series 1. So I do watch lots of TV programs, but only specific ones that I really want to see - I never watch TV because I have nothing better to do, or just because it is there.

Not TV-free but no cable. What happiness not to pay that bill anymore. Watch DVD's as broadcast TV sucks for me for all except about 3 hours a week.

I was without a television for a year or so and didn't miss it at all. I went through a whole minimalist phase where I got rid of everything except a bed and a desk and a computer (a place to sleep and a place to work). That lasted for about a year or so. I found that while I didn't miss the usual dribble of television shows, I did miss the news. Also, I didn't like having to go on the internet to find my news. I like for the talking heads to tell me what's happening in the world while I'm getting ready for work, going out, etc. So I bought a television. And that ended my minimalist phase. Next came a sofa and tables and another desk and lamps and...
Now I find that I watch more thanjus the news. Ahhh...if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

I think it might be more accurate to specify that this might be the case in the US - whereas the BBC is recognised throughout the world as having a very high standard of TV output!

I'm with Bruce. There's fabulous TV viewing available. It's sad it takes a lot of money and time to find it (at least in the US, IMHO), but it is possible.

I know some folks who say they don't like TV, "never" watch it, but when I go to their house they have a ghetto 20", drained of all color, 15 year old TV and basic cable. CNN, ESPN and the broadcast networks.

And you know what? I don't like TV at their house either...

I'm almost TV free. I don't consider my 14 inch, 12 year old TV a real TV (), and I watch it quite seldom, perhaps one hour a month in average during the last year... I just haven't prioritized buying a new one, but I think I'll get one this year though, and then I probably end up watching TV more...

I watch very little TV, maybe one or two hours per week. I like "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart", but I get an RSS feed on my computer that sends me all the best clips, so I just watch it there. I agree with Bruce -- I fully realize that there are quality shows out there, but I usually end up using my downtime to surf the Net, play an online game, or practice bass.

My TV is for movies and games only. I don't get a single channel and it has been this way for 2 years. I don't miss it at all.

My ex-wife owned the TV set, so I haven't had one in the house for 4 years. I did have a Hauppauge card in my PC for emergencies. Got rid of it last year, since I wasn't really making any use of it.

I went TV less for two years. It's a good experience. It won out. Now I have one and a bunch of crappy channels to go on it too.
