anyone use Mobile Me?

Sign in to disble this ad
i have an ipod touch and really like it..it's making me want to buy and iphone...

my problem is that i have been using Palm for many years and all my calendar items, contacts, todo's, notes, etc sync great at work (PC) and ok on my mac at home.

this is my issue: syncing at work. outlook just blows, so i have looked into Mobile Me for syncing..

any of you guys use it? is it stable yet? i have heard horror stories on the apple forums and others that it is not reliable, plus it's $99 a year (from apple, you can get it cheaper from amazon.. i think).

spanks,
njl

MobileMe costs $99 a year. I use the account and I love it.

I recently got an iPhone. I have been a Mac users for a number of years and was using my Palm and syncing with Now and Up to Date with no problems. I switched to the iPhone so that I'd only have one device to carry around. I had to re-enter all my calendar events in iCal (but it wasn't too bad). AT&T transferred my contacts to the iPhone (well they can only do like the first 100 I think so you may want to delete the unimportant ones from your phone before they do the transfer).

So far it's been stable and I haven't lost anything. The one thing I miss about the Palm is the cut/copy > paste. Now I have to retype everything when I put in a new calendar event.

Even though I should, I have yet to use the syncing feature. I generally use it for the email, the iDisk, and the web gallery. After my final exams are over I'll have free time to set everything up. Overall I enjoy the account.

I'm not sure, but I think MobileMe offers a 60 day free trial.

Edit: yes they do. www.me.com and at the bottom there's a link to sign up for a free trial.

I use it and find it does all that it advertises without any issues. There were issues for some users when Apple launched the 3D but most folks weren't affected.

this is what i want to hear..

i have read on other forums that the syncing was really destroying contacts and calendar events..

so if i do the free thing, will it totally ruin all my "stuff".. i'm literally afraid to try it.

I haven't lost anything. I did initially get some doubled-up calendar events, but nothing that couldn't be deleted. I also find the whole 'share' aspect to be a really useful way to post stuff of my (photos and videos) for Grannies and Grandpas to download when they want to! I also have put my own web-site together on the ME server.

Nope, I don't. I check my e-mail on a computer. The other mail I get comes in this metal box atop a wooden pole outside at the end of my driveway. Not sure how it works, but there always seems to be something in there when I open it a few times per week.

I use it since 2005 without any issues.
I sync my 2 computers , my iPhone and iPod.

Very reliable.

If you have iWeb , it hosts your page.
Intergration with iPhoto to share your Albums etc....
Lots of nice features with a simple and complete integration.

Worth the price.

The Public folder of the iDisk is very usefull , I transfer heavy files to my bandmates all the time.

OK, i'm trying it out for 60 days at this point.

to utilize just about everythign, i have to upgrade at home to Leopard and have at least iLife 08... there's a package with Leopard, iLife and iWork for 169 that will start selling soon.. i'm sure that ebay and amazon will be selling cheaper once they release the box set..

as well, mobileme is being sold as low as 54 bucks a year.. so once my 60 days are up, i may be in for good.

all i have to say is: WOW

That's a lot of crap to be buying and hassle just to check your e-mail.

LOL no goober, its my calendar too!! lmao

well, yes, apple crap is expensive, but it gives me right to be pain in the ass!!!

it's really cool.. i'm sure you've encountered "cloud computing" and "web 2.0" type stuff.. that's all it is..

it syncs my iphone, macbook and ipod touch.. my calendar, contacts, bookmarks, photos (need to upgrade the OS for that - my OS is already old), host my site and has iDisk.. it's really cool stuff. i guess i'm paying for convenience?

Oh my bad, a calendar. That explains it.

I really don't know much about all of this, so I'm just giving you a hard time out of ignorance. I'm sure it's cool, and worth every penny. I'm just not ready for it. I only got an iPod a few months ago.
