Question Appreciation after loss ?

What are some things you have only learned to appreciate after having lost them ? Without a doubt for me it was having hair on top of my head.

My Ross compressor pedal that some jerk stole from me. That thing would be worth some serious coin today. I thought it was a cheapo back when I bought it for $35.

My vintage Ampeg V4 that my guitarist's drunk friend burned out when I wasn't at the practice place. I didn't bother to see if it could be fixed because I didn't have much money into it and I didn't think it was worth much (becase it was old). So I sold it for parts.

Time, youth, health, and people aside...

1) My first Jazz bass - stripped strap-button casualty.
2) My '86 Grand National - loved that car.
3) My king-sized waterbed - haven't had a good night's sleep in a decade since.
4) My folk's house - after they sold it and moved away, it was demolished - lots of memories.
5) My cassette-based Tascam 4-track - that thing probably saw three times as much use as my home DAW and my H-2 combined. It's amazing how much the absense of bells and whistles allow you to just get on with it.

I have lost friends and family. Most of them (all of them?) I appreciated as much when they were here as I did after I lost them. Yeah, I miss all of them, but I cherish and value the great memories and good times I have from when they were here.

Opportunities that I let slip. Aside from that, I don't appreciate anything more after losing it than I did when I had it.

I hope you've come to appreciate your loss of control over the caps lock key as well.

I've been missing how magical the world seemed when I was young as of late. It's tough to find the same passion now.

I had $1k in boss effect pedals that I had to sell to pay off a debt. Wish I still had them.

My old dog Bethan. Although I did love her whilst alive, when she died at 18mth old I really feel to pieces.

Man that seems so stupid...

My dad.

I obviously loved him while he was alive, but I never realized how much I took for granted in that relationship until after he died.
