The Approaching Snowstorm

Sign in to disble this ad
As many of you know, there's a big snowstorm heading towards the northeast U.S.

At first they were saying 6 to 10 inches, but now they're saying we could get 12 inches or more in the New York City area.

Let's use this thread to track its progress, and to report how the storm has affected you and your area.

5:12PM local time here in New York, Sunday, March 1st, and no flakes in sight.

How about you?

Mike

5:21 here in northern NJ and not a snowflake either.

I'm about to run outside and turn all the cars around and make them ready to communicate with aliens (windshield wipers up) for the morning commute.

5:22 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Getting pounded by snow but it isn't sticking because of all the rain that is now freezing all the roads over.

4:24 central - We had 3-4 inches on the ground this morning, but not a flake in sight now. That's the way snowfall works in Alabama. It may accumulate for a while, but never stays cold enough to last on the ground.

Freezing rain all day, the roads are OK so far, but will probably begin to ice up soon, they're saying 3-5 inches of snow tonight, which will be quite the adventure with the layer of ice under it...

...I'm betting we don't get squat.

That's the way it's gone all winter, they predict snow, nothing happens, they say nothing will happen, we get 3-5 inches....I will say that I'm really beginning to dislike freezing rain, and my dogs REALLY don't dlike it - they're inside, but want to be out...the instant I open the door to let 'em out, the look at me like I'm nuts and go lie on their beds...

Not a flake of snow up here in Buffalo, and we usually get the brunt of it. Skies are pretty clear too, about 25 degrees out.

Up in the mountains in Virginia here. Been snowing on and off all day. It snowed last night too. Not a lot though, and it's been melting more than gathering so far. It stuck to the ground but grass was still sticking out the top. And the roads were just wet. It'd be nice if we could get some serious snow

It's 6:35 right now and it snowed for about 3 hours from about 3-6. We got about 2 inches, but according to the news we are suppose to get a lot more over the course of tonight and tomorrow.

Wow, I didn't expect all these replies in just an hour and a half!

I'm heading to the store now before it starts snowing, cause I ain't not hardly got no food in the house.

Balogna and cheese, I'm coming to get you!

Keep those reports coming, and everyone stay safe.

I'll check back later.

Mike

I like snow. It is very metal weather. It inspires me to write epic songs of abominable snow beats, vikings, killer snowmen and Attack Of the Killer Monster Snow Goons.

No sticking snow here in southeast CT yet, although we're supposed to have 8-15 inches by tomorrow afternoon. I'll probably have to walk a mile to my sister's place to shovel her out at 6am
