ARGH gnats/flies?!?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got back to my college apartment after being at home since early December for winter break. My kitchen has 10-20 gnats or flies crawling and buzzing around... so I tried to find out where they were coming from. I looked around and couldn't figure it out... then I opened my refrigerator and it's littered with their bodies. I didn't leave anything that could go bad in there, so I don't know what attracted them to it.

How do I go about getting rid of them? I would think bug-bombing it, but I need to be able to be here and live/work for classes starting tomorrow. Is there any way to get rid of them that won't kick me out too? It's disgusting!

How about a vacuum cleaner?

Hi.

Even though the classic spray can- flame thrower trick might be appealing, I'd go with Tsals suggestion: Vac 'em.

How are they getting in and out of the refrigerator?? These are obviously much smarter, more technologically advanced gnats than are normally found on this planet.

Don't fall asleep in the apartment!!!!!

One time we had to play a gig in a park where there had been a - shall we say - fruitful year - for the ladybugs. They were so hard to keep out of your mouth while playing and singing...

I ended up throwing away all the food in the fridge and freezer and setting off a few bug bombs in the kitchen. That should solve it (I hope).

Here's a funny story. When I was leaving, I realized I had left the trash bags full of stuff inside the apartment. It had only been 30 seconds after we set off the foggers so I decided to go back in and get them. I tried holding my breath, but ended up accidentally taking in a huge gulp of the fog. My throat felt like death for about a few hours now I just have really bad allergies. I'll never do that again...
