Maj Derrick Cheng, from the 25th Infantry Division, said that the training, on anaesthetised pigs, was being conducted under licence and the careful supervision of veterinarians.

"It's to teach army personnel how to manage critically injured patients within the first few hours," he said.

what an awesome idea. why dont medical school students shoot humans and try and save them, while were at it.

theres no reason for them to be doing that..

shoot 'em, skin 'em, fry 'em.

anything else would be inhumane.

interesting...it's certainly a way to practice treating gunshot wounds on live subjects and anesthesia would ensure a lack of suffering.

I don't think I care enough to form a real opinion though, as long as they eat the things afterwards that is. I wouldn't want to see a nice bit of pork go to waste, even if it is full of holes.

Also I don't much like PETA.

Wouldn't be happening if we weren't over there in the first place.

I'd be ok with shooting to kill, and then using the meat, but if they are intentionally wounding them and causing undue suffering, that's pretty lame. Even hunters go for a quick and direct kill.
