Arrested Development Appreciation!

A tribute to one fo the funniest moment for moment television shows ever, IMHO(although i believe it is fact, not subjective whatsoever! ) so here goes, discuss, quote, share moments, stories, whatever! I mean, it is the off topic forum....I just felt the need to show a little love for a great show that has me dying whenever i pop in a DVD, and I couldn't keep doing so in the Nordstrand thread with Tom Bowlus, so go at it TBers-lets get Funke!

Good call on this thread!

Truth be told, I don't watch that much TV anymore, but IMHO, Arrested Development was one of the few shows that was worth making time for. It's a major shame that the series was canceled.

I blame a "mole" on the inside...

On one hand, I caught a few episodes of it, and I thought it was good.

On the other hand, it pretty much kickstarted Michael Cera's career, which, following the show, has been nothing but an abysmal nuisance.

Year One with coked up Jack Black? Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist? The worst character in Superbad?

I have not seen any of those movies (none of them looked very funny to me), so I just pretend as if he doesn't exist outside of AD. His character on AD was well-written and well-played, though.

You're right, his character on the show is good. All of them are, really.

Unfortunately, those movies are targeted for people in my age group, and I have some really stupid friends, so as much as I'd like to, I can't completely ignore them.

Maybe I'll just start ignoring those friends though.

basically, michael cera has just continued to be george michael in every role since the show was cancelled....awkward, timid, developing teenager. juno and superbad were enjoyable to me, but i think he was the wrong decission for casting in the soon to be released "youth in revolt".

anyway...i hope there isnt a mole in the bunch of you never nudes! keep your tricks away from this thread, as tricks are something whores do for money....and coke...

muahahaha!

CAW-ca-CAW!

Having watched AD makes seeing Job(can't recall the actor's real name ATM)elsewhere- like Monsters vs Aliens & Sesame Street- all the more humorous. Not a day goes by that I don't say 'I've made a huge mistake'

LOL! Yes, Will Arnett (Gob) is an extremely funny guy (and also the spouse of Amy Poehler), and yes, I keep seeing him as Gob in all of his roles. He's pretty funny on 30 Rock, too (one of the few other shows I watch).

the "come on!" episode is one of my favorites centered on Gob. "the guy in the 2600 dollar suit...COME ON!" so, so good.

all of the Mr. F stuff is amazing as well....nto to mention the fact that charlese theron is stunningly beautiful.

Arrested Development was the last show that I liked enough to actually make it a point to watch it every week not counting 49ers games during football season.

How it got canceled and much less funny sitcoms stay on the air will always be a mystery to me.

I do agree on Michael Cera though. He plays the same character in everything which is fine except that he's seemingly everywhere today.

Including Walmart: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/?p=4778

Loved that show. Gob, not Job.

Good burger joints die off, McDonald's is here to stay. Sucks.

it also was a show best enjoyed when started from the beginning. i can see hwo no matter hwo good the critical acclaim may have been, it was probably difficult to stumble into after it had already started, despite the informative intro, haha.

i actually never saw it until after it had been canceled...i bought all three seasons on a whim when i had a winter break form college with nothing planned. needless to say, every episode had been watched after less than a week.

but they constantly reference little things from early episodes and it all piles up by the end of the series...which makes it great to watch in sequence, but understandably difficult to a passive fan..which probably helped to lead to poor ratings.

Sometimes when I meet people who know that I am an attorney, but do not know my name yet, I introduce myself as Bob Loblaw.

When "Tennessee" came out I really loved the sound of it. I've always thought Speech's lyrics, flow, and tone were fantastic. It's a shame that they didn't last. "Revolution" for the Malcolm X soundtrack was phenomenal.

Quote:
Before you put on this record, understand that this is for all my ancestors, who were raped, who were killed, and hung, because of their plight for freedom and for dignity. They died for me and they died for you. This is for them, to know that YES! even today, in 1992, we are still fired up, and we're still talking about revolution!

Brothers and Sisters
Let me share with you some news
As I sit on my plush couch watching the news
There has been a rude awakening
That I have marched until my feet have bled;
And have rioted until they called the Feds
What's left my conscience said?
What's left my conscience said? GO!

As I look out my window I can see the little ones
Playing amongst each other with the water guns
In pure poverty
Generations of good people in cycles of poverty
It bothers me so I ask myself (I say)
Are you doing as much as you can for the struggle? (No)
Am I doing as much as I can for the struggle? (No)
Then why do I cry when my people are in trouble? (Yo!)
My ancestors slapped me in the face and said "GO!"
Harriet Tubman told me to get on up!
Marcus Garvey said to me, bro, you get on up!
My brother malcolm X, need I say more
It ain't like we've never seen blood before,
Come on, let's talk Revolution, now!

(Oh, my people say, oh my brothers say, oh my sisters say, HEY! Oh, my people
say/ come on let's talk about a Re-volution)

I seen blood on one Malcolm as one shot him
I see tears, because now it seems we've forgot him
I've seen years of people struggling for a solution
Like restitution; excuses, no more no more confusion
Come on, come on, let's talk right
Talk up talk up, but don't talk up up all night
There's got to be action if you want satisfaction
If not for yourself, for the young ones (the children!)
The US, the UN, we can't allow ya—
to tellustthe kidinthegetto isnotasimportantasthiskidin Bosnia
I ain't with it; just forget it
We can't even debate if you don't understand our situation
You don't want us to go get a gun now
You don't like to see people runnin' around now, do ya?
Yet and still you want to live like '90210', while we scream out "Yo FREEDOM"!
My grandmother has a goal we have wasted
You best acquire a taste for somethin' you never tasted
So people, let us wear our pallets
it's either the bullet or the ballot; come now

Revolution now

Now see, I understand what my people have said
They tell me to FIGHT— fight for the answers to our dead
For Harriet Tubman, MOVE organization, David Walker, the Black Panthers
Kwame and Kuma, Marcus Garvey, Jane Pitman
Revolution!
Quote:
Lord I've really been real stressed
Down and out, losin ground
Although I am black and proud
Problems got me pessimistic
Brothers and sisters keep messin up
Why does it have to be so damn tuff?
I don't know where I can go
To let these ghosts out of my skull
My grandmas past, my brothers gone
I never at once felt so alone
I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel
Not just my spare tire (home)
But lord I ask you (home)
To be my guiding force and truth (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)

Take me to another place
Take me to another land
Make me forget all that hurts me
Let me understand your plan

Lord it's obvious we got a relationship
Talkin to each other every night and day
Although you're superior over me
We talk to each other in a friendship way
Then outta nowhere you tell me to break
Outta the country and into more country
Past Dyesburg into Ripley
Where the ghost of childhood haunts me
Walk the roads my forefathers walked
Climbed the trees my forefathers hung from
Ask those trees for all their wisdom
They tell me my ears are so young (home)
Go back to from whence you came (home)
My family tree my family name (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
He guided me to Tennessee (home)

Now I see the importance of history
Why people be in the mess that they be
Many journeys to freedom made in vain
By brothers on the corner playin ghetto games
I ask you lord why you enlightened me
Without the enlightment of all my folks
He said cuz I set myself on a quest for truth
And he was there to quench my thirst
But I am still thirsty...
The lord allowed me to drink some more
He said what I am searchin for are
The answers to all which are in front of me
The ultimate truth started to get blurry
For some strange reason it had to be
It was all a dream about Tennessee
