Assertive vs. Dominating

I enjoy an assertive woman but will never again tolerate a dominating woman like my ex. It's a fine line.

How do YOU tell the difference?

Assertive women let you know what they want/expect, taking a lot of the silly guesswork out your relationship. Dominating women beat the snot out you and make you do stuff.

I think the handcuffs usually give them away.

Your friends hate your dominating girlfriend.

They drink beer with the assertive one.

A few cue lines:

"Men are just intimidated by smart women."

"Men can't handle my opinions."

"Men are too controlling."

Any one or combination of those is a sign to head for the hills.

An easy (if not completely reliable) way to tell is to ask her where she wants to go to dinner.

A submissive woman says, "Wherever you want to go".
An assertive woman says, "I was thinking we could go to _____"
A dominant woman says, "We're going to _____, and you need to change your shirt."

Women will be assertive when you're dating. It's only after marriage that they complete the transition to dominating.
