Just wondering if anyone has seen these yet?
Pretty good concept, cheap portable laptop. They are a bit more expensive right now than they were originally intended to be, if they had come out at the originally intended price say 6 months back, I would have bought one, just because it would be pretty damn useful for containing all my work.
The thing i like most about these wee things is that it uses a SS harddrive, so it apparently boots up really quickly
Its sort of like a cross between a PDA and a laptop! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_PC

I want a normal screen on which I'll actually see what I'm writing. If I'll have to work on spreadsheets with a thing like that, I'd rather slit my wrists. Fancy gadget from an engineering POV, but not really useful.

It is her birthday soon and I thought I would surprise her with an EEE PC. According to my tracking #, it should be delivered a little later on today. I am really looking forward to checking it out. My current notebook is a Dell Inspiron 1520 and it is a tank. Granted its my gaming laptop for lectures, but it is heavy. If the EEE PC is good, there might be one in the future for me as well. |

Now you can get iPods with that much memory. Things move fast.

I store most of my files with Jungle Drive, and pay Amazon a few bucks a month for storage space. All my data is available worldwide on redundant servers and backed up daily.
EDIT: Errr, I meant Jungle Disk

It's very fast and very easy to use so far. I plan on haveing an external hard drive soon. I ordered an 8gig SD card with it to increase the storage size to 12 gigs.

| | | | A few of the kids at Uni have (the old) one - I had a play and they're pretty nice. They hook straight into campus wifi, and give you web, instant messaging (inclusing skype voice & video) and WP. Perfect if you're out and about round campus. Not really a laptop, but something for keeping you online when you're away from home.
I've got a decent laptop, but if you just have a desktop machine, it could be the perfect partner.

| | | | I want one really bad
It wsould be perfect to carry around work or just have in my backpack for those emergency calls from work where i have to term serve to fix a problem.
Get a 100gb laptop hard drive, slap it in a USB case and you're gtg.\

Granted you could get a proper laptop for the same price, it wouldnt be that great, but probably better than the EEE. I just want one for the ultra portability

Elonex sells one for 100 pounds in England. Acer makes one. Who else? Interesting. I wonder if any of these are good enough for gig recording. |
