Just a heads up guys!
Sound Control today went into liquidation! Get your repairs asap and deposits!!!

Key stores will be open for ~3months but some of the smaller ones are already shut and staff have been dismissed with immediate effect!

All I know is that I was completely ripped off there for sets of strings for my 5er bass.

I hope Guitar Guitar in Newcastle shuts too, they absolutely suck. At least Sound Control had some nice guys there!

Now I've never had an issue there, even if they can't seem to get flatwounds at all.

Even though I've bought several things there (including my brother buying a £1100 guitar there), I've found the customer service shocking, the staff unknowledgeable, lazy, arrogant and clumsy. Cack-handedness is not a good thing when they're handing you a £1400 Sadowsky off the wall.

I heard about this yesterday - hope the guys are able to find jobs. The Southampton store was always pretty good to me and had decent stock. The bosses must have known this was coming though.

There is Sounds Live, which is far better than Windows. Guitar Guitar has the occasional bit of boutique gear but is staffed by chimps and layabouts. It's a wonder they sell anything at all!

I only used SC for strings when they were needed in a hurry. Better places to get strings (cheaper) online!

Stopped buying new music gear a long while back, when you can get what you want used for a fraction of the priced if you look around long enough. Granted, this isnt really the case with the boutique stuff, but no one near me sells that anyway!

Well I got my 5er Yamaha in Guitar Guitar....

Saying that I'm playing drums more now anyway so equipment apart from strings aren't going to be an issue.

I bought my Spector from Sound Control Preston in February and it is without a doubt the best bass I've ever had! Glad to see I rescued it, it had been ordered in for a customer who paid deposit but couldn't afford it when it came in, so I took it! That shop was a fair size in terms of space for a Sound Control bu I've no doubt it will have shut.

It's a corker alright. The one thing that irked me a bit was that the guy in charge of the basses there liked to hover around me when I was playing it. Just being friendly, but I'd have liked some time alone with the bass! Still bought it and lugged it via train all the way back to Newcastle!

I don't think I'd try the same with my Shergold.....the thing weighs a ton!

That is suprising! Mind you, SC in Birmingham has a couple of Warwicks that must have been in there at least a year, if not longer.

Hope there is a sale though! Could do with a BF-3 and CE-5!
