Attention Long Islanders...

Hello fellow TB'rs!

I'll be traveling to Patchogue (actually, the map says Hagerman) Friday the 3rd to go to a wedding party/jam on Saturday evening. We should be in our hotel (in Islandia) Friday evening and am looking for something to do Friday night that might be nearby. Suggestions???

Thanks,
Greg

You could go up the road a piece and get some wings at Buffalo Wild Wings - wait a minute you are from buffalo, never mind

The next day is the 4th of July, so not sure how much will be going on that night.

Well, the 4th is the day of the party, and that's the reason for us being there. It's what they're billing as a "jam fest". We're to just bring our axe and the backline is provided. Should be plenty going on for us that night!

I was hoping to find either a nice restarant, or even better a good live band! (For FRIDAY!)

Thanks Oldrocker. Lemme know if you know of any good gigs going on this Friday.

I haven't been to Patchogue in many many years, but I remember the Oak Beach Inn (OBI) was fun. (Decent bands, full of drunk hotties with funny accents)
There's also nice beaches not too far away. (See paretheses above, minus the bands part)

Oops, just read OBI is no more. Hey, there's lots to do in a beach town on July 3rd.

If you get in early enough and it's a nice day and you don't mind driving another 20 miles you could go down to Smith Point park and see a band called "Mama Funk and The Mudcats" play outside right on the Ocean.

I've not seen this band, they have a myspace, but I have seen other bands at Smith Point. The music is free but it will cost about $8 to park.

Music starts early there; 5 - 5:30 or so. It's an easy drive and a nice setting.

There are some bars and resaturants some with music in Patchougue or Port Jefferson, both are within a 15-20 minute ride from Islandia.

Since I'll be living in Long Island in two months, I'm subscribing for more tips from locals.

It's nothing personal bro! It's job-related; I'll be teaching at a college in Long Island. I'll miss the bay area, but the job is exactly what I want to be doing, and my family being on the east coast was a bonus.

If you head towards Oakland this summer, drop me a line...first round on me.

I'll try to make it out man. You'll be always welcomed in the bay.
