My wife is traveling to Brighton in July to study at the University of Sussex. She will be studying Psychology including the Psychology of good and evil.
In her research she will be administering an online survey of good and evil.
As an incentive she will enter all those who complete the survey in a drawing for a prize.
Now the problem is. What prize is still cool in the UK?
If we were doing this in the states we would most likely give away an iPod but who knows if those are still cool over there.
I need some imput from you guys in the UK on what would be a good incentive prize.
Remember that the majority of the people taking the survey will not be bassists so please dont say "a ZVEX wolley mammoth" or anything.
Thanks dudes. |

A PS3, XBox 360 or a iPod would all be good prizes. If you are thinking of brining one over from the States though, remember that the Xbox and PS3 will have the wrong power cables so you would need to make that clear (you can just swap the cable out though).
Alternatively, I would think the prize of afternoon tea at Bruce Lindfields would also be attract to the young chav and townie crowd of Britain. I would check with Chris2112, he's in touch with what a young chav would be in to!
Edit: THe other thing you might want to check out it the legallity of holding a prize draw in the UK based on online entry. If its small enough it might fall within an exception, but often you need licenses for significant prize draws that are open to the public.

if its gotta be a gift though, I think Bruce and Mark are bang on with the console idea; everyone either wants one, or knows someone that wants one. or could just sell it, either way!

1. Lunch with Bruce Lindfield
2. A tank full of car gas (that might actually blow your budget)
3. Five minutes of billable legal advice on pensions from Mark Latimour.
4. A big mother box of Galaxy Minstrals. Like Smarties only way better and bigger.
5. Two big boxes of Galaxy Minstrals.

Whats cool in the UK? The weather most of the time! But not now though, it's been bloody scorching recently.
I don't think a PS3 would be a good prize though. Aside from the games being crap, you might run into Bruce Lindfield online and have to talk to him via microphone! |

And it's Minstr els!

They now sell them in a bigger bag at Heathrow. I grabbed one on my way to San Francisco last week and it lasted three days.
How about a bottle of English wine? Not many are aware that England does produce wine.

| | Working on his world citizenship... | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: The Colonies | | If you do settle on the idea of a console (X360/PS3), make sure it's a proper UK one - in addition to needing different TV connections and a power supply that works on 240V, they're also region-coded, much like DVD players. Basically, only games bought in the US will work on a US console...
The only exceptions to this are the PSP and Nintendo DS (although PSPs are still region-coded for UMD video discs, but not for games). Most consoles, like DVD players, can have their region coding hacked, but most people won't want to go through the hassle.
I say maybe an iPod Touch - they're extremely cool, they're still new and not many people have them yet, and there's no issues with regions or anything like that. |

And yep, as far as #2 goes, if you use the word "gas" in Britain, you will usually be misunderstood (you can buy cars there that use CNG - compressed natural gas - 50p a litre!) - so, if you're not talking about that, it's "petrol".... So fill up your car, then pop into the service station shop and buy more Minstrels. |

Not that I mind slow paced but that one really should have been left in the closet. I guess playing Ninja Gaiden and Devil may Cry 4 over the past few days has got me hyper! . As for GTA4, well, I guess everyone already has it by now...though the 360 does have the added draw of having exclusive downloadable content for it! |

I don't know if there is anything prettier than the view from the top of the South Downs. I was dissapointed when my Aunt, who still lives in the UK, moved from Hove to "Suburbia" Surrey. |
