attn: I waste money seeing SAW 5

Sign in to disble this ad
After seeing the recent SAW thread here, I decided to finish off an enjoyable afternoon in town by going to see Saw 5 with a friend of mine who comes from Malaysia. When we saw it, we were stuffed with KFC and not thinking properly, but we both came to the same conclusions about it.

Never before in my life have I seen such tripe. The acting, oh god, abysmal! The plot, to quote Latty, had holes it in you could drive a death star through! Having missed Saw 4, not a great deal of it's feeble plot made sense to me. Even the "terrible traps" seemed lame in comparison to the previous films. Things like "find a key before the nail bombs go off" . How lame.

The whole thing stinks of a lack of imagination. And shockingly for a Saw film, it was pretty light on the blood until the last 10 minutes. It fails to deliver on all levels, including cheap thrills.

Also, it set itself up for a predictable sequel. Yuck.

All in all, we were asking to be let down, and we got it!

The first one came out in 2004.

5 movies in less than 4 years should tell you something.

They are trying to milk you, until you are bone dry, and they succeeded.

That's the greatest tragedy.

Yep, the last one came out on October 25th 2007, exactly a year before I saw Saw 5! TRASH!

I really wish they had stopped after the first one.

Yeah, the first one is on TV tonight (or was it last night?). Either way, I haven't watched it. Once is enough.

I saw this on Friday nite and also wasted my money! More of the same (again)! Only a few main characters but very difficult to follow. Unfortunately, they've set up for yet another sequel. What's the deal with "the box?"

What offended me was that the story was so incoherant, and a good portion of the movie was flashbacks from previous films! It also makes a huge error in assuming the viewer has followed all 4 prequels and knows whats going on. For my friend, it was his first Saw film and he was even more confused than I was!

I really liked the first 3, but the fourth was such a letdown that I won't even go to the theater to see the 5th, when it comes out on DVD I might watch it once just to satisfy my morbid curiosity concerning violent horror films.

Believe me, it's not really that violent or gruesome by any stretch.

Well, you DID read the Saw thread, and you knew what to expect, and you still went anyways? You got what you deserved.

I can honestly say that I have seen about 15 mins of the first movie and haven't had a desire to see any more...just not my thing. I was really rather surprised to see a "part 5" being advertised though. I mean how many more morbid ways to kill somebody can you come up with?? sheesh you can just watch the news for that
