After seeing the recent SAW thread here, I decided to finish off an enjoyable afternoon in town by going to see Saw 5 with a friend of mine who comes from Malaysia. When we saw it, we were stuffed with KFC and not thinking properly, but we both came to the same conclusions about it.
Never before in my life have I seen such tripe. The acting, oh god, abysmal! The plot, to quote Latty, had holes it in you could drive a death star through! Having missed Saw 4, not a great deal of it's feeble plot made sense to me. Even the "terrible traps" seemed lame in comparison to the previous films. Things like "find a key before the nail bombs go off" . How lame.
The whole thing stinks of a lack of imagination. And shockingly for a Saw film, it was pretty light on the blood until the last 10 minutes. It fails to deliver on all levels, including cheap thrills.
Also, it set itself up for a predictable sequel. Yuck.
All in all, we were asking to be let down, and we got it! |

5 movies in less than 4 years should tell you something.
They are trying to milk you, until you are bone dry, and they succeeded.
That's the greatest tragedy. |

Only a few main characters but very difficult to follow. Unfortunately, they've set up for yet another sequel. What's the deal with "the box?"

It also makes a huge error in assuming the viewer has followed all 4 prequels and knows whats going on. For my friend, it was his first Saw film and he was even more confused than I was! |
