Well, as my username would indicate, I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma. Well, I was; I graduated 2 weeks ago and am about to enter the wonderful world of graduate school!

For those of you who don't know, I'm a botanist and want to get into genetics/physiology so I can work with biofuels to blah blah blah. As such I'm not staying at OU for grad school (their department is more suited for ecology, systematics, and the like) but instead am going to be attending Southeast Missouri State University to work on my master's degree.

Now the point of this thread: I have never been to Missouri except to visit the campus and meet with my major professor, and even then all I did was fly to St. Louis, drive to Cape Girardeau, stay there for an hour, drive back to St. Louis and fly back to Oklahoma. What is there to do in Cape or around it? Will I be able to pick up some jazz gigs on the side?
