Audio issues with PS3 HDMI

Im having some audio troubles. Why would my tv not be sending audio back out thru a SPDIF connection when its receiving an HDMI A/V signal? Can someone help?


-PS3 to HDMI to Magnavox LCD with HDMI inputs
- I get no audio when I do this thru the SPDIF audio out. Only sound thru the TV.
-I have been running an optical cable to my older receiver but its not the same.
-My 360 runs into the tv via VGA and RCA and its sends an audio out of the SPDIF, why doesnt PS3?
-Yes I have messed with most setting on PS3 and TV. I am still entertaining responses though! Please help and let me know if Im battling a straight up compatibility issue!

check the set up in both. TV and PS3.

Try to desconect the HDMI cable while the PS3 is on then plug it again, you will a message " HDMI component detect, would like to use it as default? something like that, follow the instructions. Check the set up in the TV. most of the time you need to set up HDMI as default.
Also check if your PS3 has the latest update, Are you running your PS3 wireless or do you have it connected to your modem.
The conection I have is: PS3 > HDMI > RECIEVER INPUT , TV > HDMI > RECEIVER INPUT
