Who here is from, or familiar with Austin?

I'm going there for about a week, but have time to do one "fun" thing while I'm there. So, what is there to do in Austin?

I've visited 3x. Fun town, check out Congress for sure. I have friends that moved there, so they always toured us around. I'm sure some locals can guide you better than me!

Don't miss Bass Emporium as well!

What are you into? Lots of great restaurants downtown. For some top-notch coffee step into the restaurant called Frank. They sell gourmet hot dogs but they have a fantastic coffee shop right in there at the front. If there is a particular type of food your into let me know and I can maybe recommend a restaurant. I'm into the food when I'm visiting places so that's what comes to mind.

Lots of music options downtown. Pick up the free local entertainment fish wrap to see what's going on.

Zilker Park is pretty cool for hanging out in the outdoors.

There is a lot to do. Tell us what you like to do and that might narrow it down. I have land right outside of Austin and family in Austin and my wife went to school there so I've spent a lot of time in the city. I know there are some locals here too.

A good friend of mine lives there. He says the music scene is incredible. I plan on making a trip down there ASAP myself. It's a really nice city from what I hear.

+1 on all of these. Get some BBQ. I've been to Austin three times now (twice for SXSW) and I think it's a pretty darn nice town.

Casino El Camino. (It is not a casino though)

You will not eat a better hamburger in Texas.
