So far nobody has been killed (thankfully)

Yasi was 500Km wide with and eye 100Km wide and had wind gusts of speeds in excess of 300Km/h.

Our own Tom Once Dead posted this thread yesterday. He is pretty close to where the cyclone made landfall. Glad to hear no one has perished.

Growing up in Va Beach hurricanes were just an excuse to light some candles and crack some beers. But as Katrina proved; in the right conditions these storms are no laughing matter.
