has anyone seen this yet? it's...kinda amazing. I like how they integrated the grid and the drawing background into one thing. Given that my experinces with autoCAD have been limited at best, as I've only done 2D stuff, but this new release looks fun.

Every year they come out with a new version that's supposed to do all these fancy things but they never work right. They often manage to break things that worked well in previous versions.
IMO, 2006 was nearly perfect. I haven't cared much for any of the versions since then.

I'm using Alibre Design right now for my mechanical tinkerings. It's somewhat like a cheap-and-cheerful Solidworks clone - bit rough round the edges but pretty capable.

Plus they have made importing stuff from one drawing to another a simple drag and drop. I have one drawing made up with every layer, text styles ect in it and I just drag and drop when I need something new. Plus you can do that with just about anything in a drawing. Made something cool in a drawing last week that you want in a new drawing? Takes about 7 seconds to do.
