Proof I'm in the South: a gentleman I work with just used the term "might could" in an official correspondence. Man! I love those construction guys

I was talking to colleague in Boston on the phone the other day and used "y'all". Caught a little friendly grief for it. He basically said he could tell I was from Kentucky.

Nice. I say y'all also, and have been getting strange looks from the locals up here.

Being from "there", my all time fave is still eyegod

As in...

"Bammer isa best gol dang ball team inna world eyegod!!"

A close second are those who refer to their favorite football team as "we". Extra points for those doing this who didn't attend said school and couldn't give you directions to the place.

Haha, I say fixin' to all the time as well. Usually something along the lines of "I was just fixin' to head on over to......".

The other day I had lunch with a couple of guys from 3M and listened to them make fun of our southern accents ... all in a thick Minnesota/Wisconsin accent. Priceless!

Almost as good as my Korean calculus professor who learned English in south GA.

I use pretty much all of them but that's because I suck at speaking English.

Of all the things that could be classified as 'awesome' this one is WAY below the radar.

... I was a bit underwhelmed by the thread content... being a construction worker in a small Georgia town, I hear and or say all of these phrases at least twice a day! The wonder of the southern dialect!
