Has anybody tried AXE Dark Temptation?
I have been waiting for a few weeks to get some.
I am really not sure what to think.
The first thing that came to mind when i heard about it, was that america has a very serious obesity "epidemic" when women are getting turned on by the smell of food on a man. (FWIW, The kind of dudes that smell like chocolate usually arnt considered attractive.)
Its hard to describe the smell, but IMO, it smells kind of feminine. Sort of a cross between chocolate, alcohol smelling body spray and perfume.
But it smells kind of nice.
Has anybody tried it? |

Actually, I hate all of those body spray products. They're far too strong, and they remind me of 8th grade gym class.
I'll stick with a subtle spritz of Burberry.

AXE and the RGX and other body sprays are too strong and seem rather immature to me. Being clean surely beats covering the stench up with a more awful odor.

I don't really care for its junior high connotations, but the fact remains that I get a decent amount of compliments from women on the way I smell (no, really), so I figure why stop using a good product just because I don't like the way it's marketed?
The spray is still a no-no though. The best use I ever found for that was years ago when I was a Scout and threw a can in the fire, which resulted in a pretty satisfying fireball that went up about 15 feet.

I quite like the dark temptation, I like less fruity/flowery smells and it has a richer scent that I enjoy.

I do like some of the Lynx varieties though, Africa is a long time stalwart of the brand. Atlantis, now discontinued, was also very nice. Inca, my absolute favourite Lynx, was also discontinued a long time ago. It's sad that these days Lynx have got so manny crappy fragrances out whereas back in the Africa/Atlantis/Inca/Voodoo/Apollo are long gone.
If we look at the Lynx fragrances that have came out over the past few years, very few are any good. - Phoenix - awful
- Gravity - awful
- Dimension - awful
- Pulse - the best of a bad bunch
- Touch - smells like an old people's home
- Unlimited - a half decent scent, looks better when you consider the rest of the awful products that Lynx brought out
- Click - very dry and not a pleasant smell
- Vice - again, not too bad but not exactly glory-days stuff
- Dark Temptation - the worst of the lot?
However, given that Lynx started going down the pan, it allowed me to try other deodorants (because at one time, Lynx really was the market leader in the UK!). Now TUSK, Adidas, Sure and FCUK as well as many other brands do great stuff too. |

Funny story,
when I was like 10 years old, I threw up in the back of my moms car.
Since the smell was unbearable, my mom sprayed the spot down with TONS of perfume... but unfortunatly, the perfume had turned rancid. It was this nasty vanilla smelling perfume that kind of smells like the Dark Temptation stuff.
Anyways, whenever we got in the car, we were hit with the smell of rotten perfume. It was so bad that it covered up the vomit smell. |

If women find that stuff attractive then there are problems. Hell, I'd go to the lengths of saying that you can spray yourself with febreeze or downy wrinkle remover and you'd smell better. What women doesn't want a guy smelling like clean clothes?
May as well stick a few dryer sheets in your pockets while you're at it |

I got a lot of compliments from that one. I'm using Nivea right now (doesn't smell like a fragrance, just smells clean, which I love), but I may go back to the Irish Spring at some point.
