So after years of being a complete beer snob I was at a friends birthday party throwing football and was thirsty as all get out.
My choices.
Bud Light
Natural Light
Cola and Jim Beam
Water
I chose Natural Light, and actually liked it. I haven't had that stuff since a fishing trip on a pontoon boat 10 years ago and HATED it.
Is my West Virginia upbringing start to kick in or is my taste in things just deteriorating age
Next I will be enjoying Schafer, or Schlitz. |

After months of drinking ~90% of my own homebrews and ~10% Belgian specialty beers and American micros at a local bar.......tastes like funny water to me. My girlfriend tried some and commented that my beers have way more flavor. |

At my school we at least splurge for the yuengling...

As far as cheap stuff goes, I almost enjoy drinking Keystone Light. Its not much more expensive than Natty either. |

Seriously i only have one friend that drinks decent beer.
i always carry Beamish, Murphy's, or Guiness with me if i know there is going to be drinking involved. Thank Brigid that the bar we play in every saturday has Guiness on tap.
When i can find it i drink the odd Arrogant Bastard Ale, Fat Tire, Newcastle, Belhaven, and Samual Smith's Oatmeal Stout.
In Texas most parties usually include Shiner Bock which will do in a pinch

Natty Light is also the favorite beer of bums across the states.

My motto: "Life is too short for light beer".
I'd probably have gone for the Beam & cola. I really wonder why people drink light beer, other than a desire to drink a number of them without getting blotto. Just personally, I'd rather drink a beer with a lot of flavor, and switch to soda when I've had enough.
Now Shiner Bock - that's my favorite all-purpose beer. Although it's not well known to those who haven't lived in Texas, it offers great flavor without getting heavy. And it's NOT a light beer. When I bring beer to a party, it's never EVER light beer, and always something I'm willing to drink. Shiner Bock or Shiner Blonde are perfect.

anyways, I used to be all about "good beer" but lately my roommate and I have been having a contest with who can bring home the cheapest, nastiest beer, and actually we have found some diamonds in the rough so to speak--we both refuse natty light, as A.) its a light beer and B.) natty ice is terrible--we have an understanding that its not part of the game
I guess the moral of the story is that cheap beers aren't all bad!
(although PBR and Natty anything are pretty terrible to me!) |
