So I recently took over as the assistant cub master for my oldest scout pack. Before this role I would typically only go out camping with the pack when he would go out also. Now in this role, there are times when the older scouts are out camping for requirements that the younger ones dont have and as the assistant I need to be out there also with the cub master. So this means more solo camping trips. Have three tents at home a five and two four person tents, which are good for the family, but when I am out without the family I want something simpler.
Im looking for any hikers or backpackers here that go out with one person tents and can offer any suggestions on good models to choose from. I am 6'00" so I dont need any weird sized tents. It would need to be able to hold myself, my pack, and small misc gear. I dont need to be able to stand in it, so kneeling or bent over height is perfectly fine.
Thanks,
Aaron

I haven't used it yet, but from the reviews online it is a well loved tent. It's "two person" on paper but I bought it as a one person tent, as my hiking buddy likes to sleep in a hammock. Should have room for everything you need.
Problem with tents is there are a zillion options, and most of them are really good! The Usual Suspects of www.sierratradingpost.com and www.campmor.com are good places to look for good bargains on closeout tents.
If you use hiking poles and are interested in serious ultralight equipment, take a look at the offerings from www.tarptent.com . |

Price/quality wise it's very good imo, and it's in a lower price class than tents like Hilleberg, MSR, etc (I still payed 250 + euros for it)
The only disadvantage I can think of is that you have to put up the inner tent first, but it hasn't bothered me a lot so far. |

Also, check out some hiking fora, I'm sure there are plenty, they will be able to give you a lot more advice and they might have reviews of tents as well. |

| | | | I think 2-3 person tents might be a little more roomier for ya. I think I have a Green Mountain. I prefer my six man. For 2 people and stuff, it is pretty roomy. NEVER forget your propane lantern. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
