Bad Dreams

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay here is your chance to play amateur psychologist.

Lately I have been having nightmares/bad dreams. I have no idea why and I can't remember them as soon as I wake up.

I have stress in my life, everyone does, but not any excessive stress. I don't watch scary or violent movies or programs.

I can't figure out why my dreams are so uncomfortable.

Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of stress? My dreams turn bad when I'm overly stressed. Any new stress/problems you have to deal with?

various medications can influence your dreams. diphenhydramine is in tylenol pm, plus some sleeping aids are pure diphenhydramine. i can also tell you that various antipsychotics have the same effect. seroquel definitely does.

that having been said, if you arent ingesting any chemicals, then my money is on your stress (even if you are on medications this is probably your trigger).

i moved into a new place about a week ago, and left my old place with a less than pleasant relationship with the landlords. the first night in my new place i had a very long and vivid (and memorable) dream about moving, and getting sued, and all this crazy stuff that never would happen, or was some kind of worst case scenario.

try meditating or doing something relaxing before going to bed, like listening to something soothing (aphex twin - rhubarb... my personal favorite relaxation and sleep tune).

No new stress just the usual everyday nonsense. Actually overall my life is pretty darn good. This is why the bad dreams are so puzzling.

I hate when you remember having a bad dream, but can't remember what the dream is about.

Do you eat before you go to bed?

I've had nightmares my whole life, virtually without letup, sometimes more than four or five per night. My earliest memory is of a nightmare. I also have lifelong sleep disorders, executive functions disorders, dyslexia and an IQ of over 180.

I'm convinced that ALL are due to physical brain abnormalities

They can and will, especially the really scary (but profitable!) new prescription sleep aids. People's freakouts over Halcion ans Ambien have been really special.

Psychiatric drugs are so awful they don't even warrant legitimate discussion.
