Fox wants to ruin all the superhero movies.

Well, considering the "graphic novel turned movie" trend has more or less produced a handful of miserably average films, and that The Watchmen is really the only "graphic novel" worthy of the title (instead of "lengthier comic book"), this is probably a good thing. If nothing else, it saves the world another meh superhero flick, and Alan Moore won't have to waste his time denouncing it, either.

A (veerrrryyyy geeky) part of me is glad it won't be released for a while. Watchmen is the pinnacle of the graphic novel art form, created specifically to be just that: a graphic novel. It's not meant to be a basis for a film, or an animated series, or a line of dishwashing detergent commercials.
Of course, the rest of me is infinitely bummed it's getting pushed back. And, when it does finally come out, I will be there opening night.

Who else is dressing up as Dr. Manhattan?

I don't know anything about the Watchmen except what I've seen from trailers during other movies.

But a quick Google search shows that this dispute has already been settled.

Fox & Warner settle Watchmen dispute.

Yes, the dispute has been settled.

I work at Sony, we are doing the fx for the movie (although I'm not personally working on it). From what I hear, it's a shot-by-shot recreation of the graphic novel, camera angles and everything. Of course that doesn't guarantee it won't suck, but at least they are trying to be faithful to the original.

I'm about to go grab a copy at Barnes & Noble to read it in preparation for the movie.

After you've finished it, look back at this post and you will realize how good of an idea it was.

Post-Watchmen update: Yep, that was a great idea.
