Am I the only one that is strangely attracted to this mysterious instrument? Is it the shape? It looks like a wheel cover with a broom stick attached to it. Is it the sound? Tunes that feature it tend to sound like someone in the band is high. Is it the folks that usually play them? I don't know.

I thought a spanish guy was asking a very general question about basses.

I like banjos as well. They are weird. While they are usually lots of fun, sometimes they can express very blue feelings.
In turkish music we have a very similar fretless instrument, which is basically an oud in banjo clothing.
Its implementation is direct contrast to the typical usage of banjos though.

I believe the original banjos had no frets.

I'm actually about to buy one! I'm thinking either a Gold Tone Cripple Creek or a Deering Goodtime 2.

Yeah. A bajos thread. I thought this was new restaurant. First thought was what a stupid name for a restaurant. It doesn't even make sense.

if you're gonna eat your banjos make sure you let it simmer for a while. a crunchy banjo is bad for your intestines.

I've found it really depends on what type of skin you use on your drum part.

banjos are a great instrument, right now my main in fact. They were originally fretless, and a good amount of old-time players will play fretless banjos. The old-time stuff is wonderful, it isn't very bright cheery music often times.

If anyone has any questions email me!

I'm partial to bouzoukis:

with a little bit of cilantro, some basil and cayenne.

Hey wait! I ordered that last night, and I didn't get no bajo's. Time to head back over to Taco Bell packing my Glock and AK.
