Bangers and Mash

I will be travelling to London for the 1 st time in late June. I have never had Bangers and Mash and have a few questions for more friends..

What exactly is Bangers and Mash?
For a first timer what do you suggest..

A friend of mine told me i should also try a Full Monty?
Any advice?

I have a pretty strong stomach and usually have no problem trying a new food...

Thanks

57pbass, I don't know what a full monty is but bangers and mash are basically sausage and mash potatoes. not much to it, at least when i get it

Full monty = full English breakfast; pork sausages, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, fried egg, tomatoes, toast or fried bread. Some folks also like baked beans and other variations on the theme.

"Bangers and mash" is indeed pork sausages and mashed potatoes, often served with a thick gravy such as onion gravy. Note to Americans - we're talking brown gravy as served with roast meat here, not the thick and creamy stuff you have with your "biscuits".

Yes win. Except here in the states we're not too proud to eat that for dinner. Like I've said before Americans are great at repackaging your own culture and telling you how to eat it.

Where I come from we have sausage pot pie. Instead of mashed potatoes, it is cubed potatoes boiled down with sausage patties mixed in.

Yes, my friend. Butermilk biscuits slathered in rich creamy (white) gravy. I prefer sausage gravy on my biscuits.

IMO suitable for any meal -- Southern Man's poutine

Yep, we also do a ham pot pie which is the same but includes hand made noodles cut to small bite size. You boil a ham hock till it's done, then the potatoes and noodles boil in the same water. Put some noodles and potatos in a bowl, then throw a chunk of ham on top. Long time family recipe...takes all day to make. We used to always have it on Sundays for a big family dinner.
