| Don't think it's THAT bad. I mean yeah it sucks, but it makes since. Kids don't need to be taking out massive loans for undergrad. The government offers more realistic loans with more fixed interest rates. I mean if it's preventing kids from going to college, that is a problem, but for the most part FAFSA detects student need and covers it. And as far as supporting kids in higher universities... it makes since since statistically, they'll have a higher earning power.
I got into a few nicer schools and FAFSA expected me to front a lot of the bill. I could have gone out and gotten loans, but it's just not worth it for undergrad. I think if scholarships/government loans don't cover the bill, it's probably not worth taking on the debt unless it's graduate school.
