One of our regular gig spots "burned" Saturday night, gutted the interior. We were playing at another "joint' across town. It would have been after closing as it was reported at 3.30 AM. Seems to be badly damaged as Ill be surprised if it reopens. The owner had canceled a band scheduled to be there that night 2 weeks in advance, and discused with our band maybe not bringing any bands back anyway. There was talk they would close in a month or 2, so it looks kin'da funny but who knows. The fire department is investigating.. |

A very similar thing happened to me years ago with my old band. It's a shame too, it was a really nice place with a full stage, lights, awesome sound and everything.

*shudder* | The site is about a mile away from me.
I went to a show in Newport RI the other night. I literally stood by the front door as the place
was jammed.

that was covering the show. I think it was WPRI. They showed it
pretty often after that. EDIT: Apparently it was not released by WPRI.
There is some conflicting info here. http://forums.firehouse.com/showthread.php?t=76019
Once the incendiaries were fired off, the ceiling immediately
began to burn. It was fully engaged in about 30 seconds.
If you weren't out of the building in 60 seconds or less, you didn't make it.
Anyway, enough hijacking.

We played May, June , July, but likely would not be back. The owner had pulled a "stunt" with us the last time we played. She has our money, $600, in hand, as we were to be paid, we were loaded up to leave, and she starts an argument with our guitar player about how they found some underaged kids drinking in the parking lot. She says, I cant have ya'll letting this go on, as she recoils her hand with our pay in it. Our guitar dude askes, well what do you want me to do, patrol your parking lot while we are suposed to be playing? And she says, "I cant have this" for 15 minutes this goes on. He says we are the band, you have staff on hand to monitor the parking lot, check I.D's and all. It appeared she was trying not to pay us so I moved in right behind her and stood about an inch off her back, and said to the guitar player, tell her we are sorry and lets go. He did, she got the message we werent going with out our money we got payed and left. Deciding we would not come back we figured she was trying too run us off, and with the other bands being canceled, it was clear she wasnt booking any more bands. But it was a nice place. Weve got other places booked anyway.

this state.
If you go to a show and see pyrotechnics set up, get THE EFF out.
If you note on the vid, it went up really fast.
Rathead, sounded like they were very undercapitalized from
the very beginning. Burning the place is not that easy to get away
with, it is usually an arson investigation immediately,
especially when insurance money is involved.

There was a lot of "funny' things going on ahead of the fire that will never be discused, because none of it is any thing the investigators would be interested in anyway. I think they call this stuff "hearsay". Arson or not, I dont know, just stating my observations of the past 2 weeks. If it is arson I hope she is caught. |

horribly disfiguring injuries.
100 people died. I thought the last survivor that died was
probably a blessing. That was about 3 or 4 months later.
A couple of people are also in jail over this.

usually pick it up.
