that's pretty lopsided, but i don't think forfeiting would have taught anything constructive at all...despite the score and outcome, these types of setbacks shape us and we have the ability to grow from the experience
as mentioned in the article, when a team uses a press, there is the argument that continuing to press is consistent with what would be expected from the players in any other situation, and thus nothing unsportsmanlike...there is also the argument that a press isn't necessary in this situation at all, and having the players play 1/2 court defense is valuable teaching opportunity as well
...i argue that, with this level of lopsidedness, there might have been a 50-point spread without the press...still no reason for either team to quit playing hard
edit: we never pressed when we were in a comfortable lead when i played or helped coach...but we didn't press all the time, we learned and taught it as an option...other area schools pressed 100% of the time, similar to lincoln
