Are bass players just more expressive?

I lurk around three forums; TalkBass, Strat-Talk and Whammy Bar and Grille (Peavey). TBers seem to be a lot more active than the other two. Some threads on the other two go days without participation. Are other forums as dull as the strat and peavey or do bass players just have that much more to say?

This site is actually fairly large and very active with members and their contributions. On any given moment their is like 500 something people logged on. Quite a bunch more when work/school gets off.

That and Talkbass is like crack, you just have to get your fix...

Well, bass players can't write music, so they have more time on their hands to write in forums. It's science. A bass comes 3rd, 4th or 5th and is just supposed to play the changes as they are written.

TalkBass is far larger than most other music forums, and therefore more active- it's the largest instrument-specific forum on the internet.

I think the problem is those other forums are too specific. Would TB be just as good if it where Fender P bass only? Probably, so that is a bad analogy

it's been there since the dawn of the internet. If talkbass was one of the good first web sites dedicated to bass (hell, there weren't many people with internet in 1998), I would not be surprised most of the people gathered here, stayed, made the site a good name, etc...

I have been coming to this forum for 6 years now and it seems like a lifetime.

Granted I am not a very active member these days, but there was a long period where I spent a lot of time on this forum, and it was definitely a great resource and value to me.

The people alone that I still carry connections with from here is great to still have. Hopefully after I finish my degree I can spend some more time on here again.
