Lightbulb Bass-related dreams

Have you ever had any and what was their craziness factor? I must've had a few already but the one I had last night was definitely the one I remember most vividly. To top it all off, it was also mighty strange.

I dreamed someone gave me a Music Man Big Al (lefty, maple fretboard, sorta metallic blue body finish with a blue tortoise pickguard, kinda odd combo, I know, but still kind of prety). As you can imagine, I was happy as a clam (I actually like the way Big Als look and sound).

After a while I noticed something odd about it, though. When I tried to play the bass with a pick, I noticed that the pickguard was somehow -- magnetic? It didn't attract metal, though. It attracted my pick even though it was a standard Dunlop plastic pick. As you can imagine, with my pick almost being stuck to the pickguard I found it pretty hard to play and decided this wasn't normal. Eventually, I decided to contact Music Man about it.

The next thing I remember is Ed Friedland playing my new bass and telling me he couldn't replicate the problem and that it played fine for him. Then I woke up.

So let's hear your bass-related dreams and let's see if you can top this one for strangeness!

Geez where do I start. I have been studying my dreams for quite some time now. every once and a wile I will have a lucid one. after I had a few I knew enough about them to know I could control them. at first had decided I was going to engage in sex the next time I had one and it actually worked I had full control over the entire dream. after that dream I decided to try and play bass next time, then I had this dream. I was in a random apartment lying in bed facing the adjacent wall witch had a door. I herd the wind howling outside. it grew stronger and stronger until it hit me, this is a dream. I want sex I said and wished for a naked man to walk through the door. then and not a second sooner a figurer appeared and walked into the door way. it was wearing a nicely tailored suit and had a huge trapezoid shaped head with a totally abstract looking face. I thought, that’s not what I asked for and the whole dream scape faded into the back of the couch I was sleeping on. my eyes where already open before I awoke. in the following week I had three separate lucid dreams all of witch started out in random places and ended with me playing the bass. unfortunately they where vague and hard to remember. I have also had a ton of bass related regular dreams. I had one once where I got to be in front of a huge audience in a giant theater all by my self. it was probably one the most empowering things I have ever experienced. anyways thanks for the cool thread.

Had a dream last night that Jeff Berlin came over for a one-on-one bass clinic. Though he was quite cool, I had no idea what he was talking about as he went off on some sort of bizarre, cosmic tangent.

Good times, good times...

The only dreams I ever have/remember are about zombies. I'm dead serious (no pun intended). Had one last night. Same as always, small group of people trying to survive in a world overrun by zombies. This time it was in some kind of suburbia, and I had a double-barrell shotgun. It's odd, because usually it's in some kind of complex, or underground, and I'm usually unarmed, or have an axe.

Have I mentioned that I hate dreaming?

Same either what you said or getting diagnosed with something fatal, my wife cheating on me or just a normal uneventful day at work.

Sexy dreams? no.
Bass dreams? Very little and I'm always better than real life.

that's about it...

I've had a dream a number of times, wherein I'm trying to get to the gig, it's getting later and later, I'm driving on and on, can't find the venue. It's time for the gig to start, past time, and I'm still driving. I wake up annoyed, before I get there.

Not a nightmare, exactly, but I would be happy to never have it again.

Sometimes I write music in my dreams. In the last such dream I was in Australia singing with a group of aboriginies (sp?). When I woke up I worked on that song and finished it - the band likes it a lot. Now and then I have a lucid dream. I used to have them more often than now. No cool bass playing dreams yet though.

I remember back when I was GASing for a Trace Elliot, I had a dream that I received an 8x10 trace stack. I was estatic to say the
least. Then I received a C on a report card so my parents took it away from me. I woke up screaming at my mom standing next to my bed for taking my amp away. She just had that look on her face saying, "***?"

I dreamt that I was asked (last minute) to accompany two really well known jazz musicians. As I'm a beginner -- and not much of a jazz player -- I got scared. But after setting up and playing a few numbers with them, I did okay (even the jazz guys said I did fine). It was a cool dream, probably more of a fantasy really.

My mate had a weird dream not long ago, that he was at some garage sale, and found an Ibanez RG, and started wailing on it, Satch style, which I thought was pretty good.

I had a dream last night that my school principle was torturing me, even though I've recently finished school and have almost completed my final exams...

I had just sent purchase for the Warwick I bought off the classifieds here. I was asleep and my phone was constantly receiving text messages. I was asleep and oblivious, though I could hear my phone ringing. With this ringtone:

In my dream, the Warwick jumped out of the box and morphed into some large beast. It commenced to growling like that and attempting to eat my face.

Ok here’s a good one for you. I found my self in a large auditorium. I was with a good friend of mine and somehow I knew that we where there because it was a tribute show in honor of john lennon. there where a lot of a list people there. we where sitting at a round table with my friend myself elton john and eric clapton. then my friend said I think it’s time for you to go on, ok I said and made my way to the stage where I was greeted by david gilmore. there was a stage hand there handing me a very strange upright fretted bass. david said I know it’s not your cup of tea but you can make it work. then we where playing a pink floyd song. I thought to my self I’d better not screw this up, david was yelling the cords out as they changed. he knew it was improved for me and as the song went through I felt more comfortable. then I found my self back in the crowd where people where complementing me. I saw my friend again and it was over. after I woke up I asked myself what friggan song was that. I picked up my bass and played the bass line and right away realized it was comfortably numb. I had just successfully learned to play that song trough a dream.
