I think the accompanying toys were way cooler than the programs themselves. I can appreciate those cartoons nowadays. That said this looks like it could be a fun movie. |

That said, the original show was off my radar when new as I was just out of high school- I LOVED Ultraman(just picked up a 2-DVD set )& any Japanese monster/Sci-Fi movies of the 60s/70s though so I may need to check this out.

I've been looking for DVDs for Space Battleship Yamato everywhere, to no avail. Every convention I go to only seem to have new series.
I have some of the Starblazers comics though. Quote:

However, if I mention Macross, anyone I mention it to thinks of Macross Frontier...
I have the tapes for Robotech though. |

They better get Christopher Walken to play Leader Desslok. No way some Japanese guy can pull that off.

My sushi chef, who is from Japan (no surprise there), and I were just talking about Yamamoto and Ultraman the other day at work. He busted out singing the theme to both of the shows at the top of his lungs. It was awesome. Everyone in the restaurant looked at him like he was crazy, as usual. He is going to crap his pants when I tell him about this. We even have an Ultraman roll on our menu.
